Impudites and unusual touches
The stereotype way for an Imputed to take essence is through hand to hand contact like handshake, should there be a penalty for trying to take essence through an unusual way of touching? (Like Human's ear to the back of the Impudite's calf)
If so, might Impudites for some Superiors have the penalty waived because they are used to that type of touching? I was thinking that Impudites of Lust might avoid penalties for any touch that involves sexual organs and Impudites of War (and Infernal Fire?) might avoid penalties for skin to skin contact done in combat that causes damage to the human (I hit him in the face with my fist and try to drain essence) Also, can an Impudite use a body part which exists because of a Numinous Corpus? and can they use a body part which exists because of a Vestigium Discord? |
Re: Impudites and unusual touches
I wouldn't use a penalty for unusual touches. If the Impudite has the human in a choke hold, it should still be fine.
Otoh, I might find it perfectly plausible for Impudites of, say, Lust to get a bonus to their resonance roll if the "touching" was sexual, or Impudites of Death if the touch was a killing blow. I'd say yes to any unusual body parts too. Such as, say, tentacles. |
Re: Impudites and unusual touches
Just touching anyone gives a +2 on the resonance, both for Charm AND for Stealing.
Additionally, most Band attunements for demon princes add a positive modifier on the theft of Essence. So your 'special touch' is perfectly valid re Andrealphus as many touches can be sexual in nature. But if there is no...mmm...release, it doesn't count. But I am unsure how that works for Factions or Nybbas, as examples where 'touching' doesn't work. I think this is a discretionary flavor rule. But I wouldn't make it easy. So if an Impudite of Valefor was able to steal a kidney for those pesky black market kidney buyers while trying to steal essence, sure, I'd give him a +1 or 2. (Heck, I wouldn't even make him do a Charm roll. But be careful about infections...) Now, according to the rules, I could, as an Impudite, stand across the room and give that special someone a wink and a nod (charming them) and steal Essence. Another alternative is having 'touchy feely' Impudites HAVE to touch their victims...but that gives them a serious penalty and an Impudite stripper could easily justify her/his theft at a distance. |
