Stealing a CHEAT! card?

I'm sure this has been answered already, but I can't find it on the forum or any FAQ. If a thief steals an item with a CHEAT! card, what happens to the CHEAT! card? (Same question for looting a body)
Does it:
a) Get discarded,
b) Go to the thief,
c) Go back to the player whose item was stolen, or
d) Something else not listed here

The Cheat! card has the text to cover this. If the item is lost, you discard the card. Theft is an example of such a loss.

However, looting the body is something different. According to a post by Andrew made late last year, all the cards in play and in the hand are laid out and the Cheat! detaches from the item (as do enhancers and other lootable attached cards). Any cards looted are looted into the hand, so you can take the Item into your hand or the Cheat! into your hand.

Interesting.

This sticky should be updated as it's more prominent than the post you mentioned (which has a later date so I agree with you it seems to supercede this): http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=1044

Cheat! can not be removed from an Item, normally, therefore it can't be exchanged between Items. The Cheat! card is, however, lost whenever the Item it is played on is lost to the current owner. That means if the Item is stolen, lost to a Curse or Bad Stuff, or taken from the owner in some other way, the Cheat! card attached is discarded. If a player dies, any Item he has Cheat! on will be lost, so all those Cheat! cards must be discarded (they can't be looted), however any Cheat! card in the player's hand must still be lain out with his other lootable stuff.

Yeah, I've noticed that too just last weekend and PM'd MunchkinMan. I assume it will get fixed soon once Andrew and Erik can discuss it to finalise which one of the rules will stick, like the recent decision to allow you to use an Enhancer which is an Item on its own with Cheat!.

What Andrew said is the new way, so that's what you go with. I'll try to fix the sticky but I'm almost out of time for this particular work break. . .

I'm confused on the Loot the Body issue due to this ruling from AH back in December:

That matches the description I gave here. The new method of looting the body is:
  1. Lay out all your in-play cards, except for the unlootable cards. In Fantasy, this leaves your Race and Class cards and other cards that say they are not lost via death. Separate any cards that are attached to each other while you do this.
  2. Lay the cards in your hand, face-up, next to those lootable in-play cards.
  3. Each player, starting with the one of the highest level, takes one card from the ones you laid out and adds it to their hand.
  4. If any cards remain after everyone has a card, discard the remainder.

Thus, you can choose to loot either the Cheat! card or the Item it was cheating, but not both. The same goes for Items with attachments. For example, you can loot a Steed or its Press-On Wings, but not both.

Re: Stealing a CHEAT! card?

As a new player I guess this ruling makes more sense from an easy-to-handle-in-the-chaos-of-play-while-drunk category.
