The treatment, The treatment strikes back and Return of the tratment... Hehe I always loved IOU.

IOU is still in print, isn't it? I've been thinking of picking up a copy for a few years now, just keep forgetting when I have the money there are other things I want more.

Has anybody done anything more on this?

Re: IOU 4th conversion

Doubt it, there's really not much conversion to DO, really. The treatments were about the only thing that would have changed much, most of the rest of IOU's new stuff became a Compendium I standard, and now is in 4th ed already.

Evil Twin and Clueless are just two things that come right to my mind that were introduced by IOU.

Weird Science, Enigmatic Device Table and Random Side Effect Table are imported from IOU to 4e, too.

An open problem: How to convert the Mundane advantage to 4e?

Re: IOU 4th conversion

I wouldn't bother converting the three levels of Treatment into exact GURPS 4e terms. That'd be like asking the ArchDean to follow the rules some freshthing set -- Just Not Done!

Fun fact: I almost went as the Archdean to a gaming costume contest... although I chickened out between fear and the low chances of anybody non-Illuminated recognizing the ArchDean. Let's just say I don't have any level of the Treatment, *or* Mundane.

Mundane Background, plus levels of Cosmic Magic Resistance (doesn't just apply to magic -- they can rationalize, and thus resist, anything).

Re: IOU 4th conversion

Weird Science is in 4ED, Basic set Characters page 228.
And why do i need to convert the random effects tables? these should work as they are, if some numbers dont make sense anymore, just come up with somthing weird, funny and insane.

About the mundanity i have no idea how to put this into rules, my plan was to make it a taboo trait for players and let them gather some rumors about weirdos who think IOU is a perfectly normal place and who dont get affected by all the wonderful things that happen on campus all the time. And maybe later impose some of mundanes on them to see how they struggle to get rid of them.
How about a cosmic paranormal resistance, with area effect for 2nd level, and 3rd level would need an affliction that imposes mundanity on evryone he sees. I m just not sure how to add the reality checks, but for that i will have to browse the limitations in basic and powers again.

But instead of rules i've been working more on fleshing out my version of IOU

Sorry, I just meant that they were originally invented for IOU, and Fourth Edition has adopted them as generic, setting-independent rules.

Pictures! Pictures! (Mine are down a bit here.)

Frankly, considering that IOU is based on nutcase stuff... I'd just use the Mundanity costs in there for any NPCs with the power. (To date, I have not heard of a PC with levels of Mundanity who was part of an IOU group. On the other hand, someone may be missing a bet if you can fast-talk the GM into letting you have an alien with Mundane who insists on the universe fitting into his world-view... which includes flying saucers and may not include things like cars, blenders, elevators, or other stuff that the "normal" students might find rather necessary for life.)
