Dodging and combat questions

1 -The Basic Set say cannot use Retreat option if you Move and Attack, but I don't found about Dodge and Drop. Then after Move and Attack the character can use Dodge and Drop option?

2 - The Arc of Vision to defend against ranged attacks is just 180º front the character?

Yes you can, but you might want to limited to with in a hex either side of the direction you were already moving. If the concept bothers you.

No it's any angle where you aware of it coming from. If you aware of the attack but can't see it you still can Dodge at -4. Vision is just the most common way of becoming aware of the attack

I would allow it.

On a hex map it's more obvious, but you've got 180 degrees of "front" and 60 degrees of "side" beyond that in each direction (normally -2 to defend, and certain limitations apply, see Basic p390).

But the shot of firearm is very fast, when your hear the shot will be late, and if you cannot see or hear the shot you cannot make Active Defense.. right?

Arc of Vision (B389) don't limit Active Defense Against Ranged Attacks outside this Arc of Vision?

Dodge of firing arms had nothing to do with seeing the trigger pulled or hearing the shot it about moving in an unexpected manor out of the precised/guessed line of fire.

say it it limits your attack, not where does it say it limits you defece.

What is you is B.390-391 "Defending Against Attacks from the Side" and "Defending Against Attacks from the Back" where you defend at -2 if your aware of them from the side unless you have peripheral or 360 vision advantages.

Defending from the back hex say not defence with out the advatages... but if you read the runround attack box if you saw them them move behid you they get to treat it as a side attack

Defending is all about being aware, it just some angle make it harder to be aware

But both of these liimitat only apply to Tactical Combat nor Light Combat

By the optional rules of martial arts, you can only dodge a firearm shot by someone you are directly seeing(like someone you aimed or attacked last turn).

If you can't see the shooter, you can still defend, imagine that a soldier is on guard, a sniper shoot him, but misses, the soldier couldn't dodge if it was a hit because he doesn't know of the attack, but after he is shoot, he starts running, searching for the sniper, trying to remain behind cover, and then, he has a dodge choice, even without seeing or hearing the sniper.

Word of warning about those optional rules, the rules (attack +dodge) without the option already match closes the police gun shot statistics of shots vs hits in gun fight, so if you using the optional rule in the name of realism you will be making guns hit more often than the really do.

But gaming like movies as about suspension of disbelie and many things that really happen in real life would never fly in a game/movie with people calling it to unreal

The the character can use Active Defenses Against attacks outside the Arc of Vision with -2 if comes from side hex?

For melee attack is easy determine when attacks came from side or rear hex, but about ranged attacks?

If you are using tactical combat, it's just as easy... looks at the attacker's position, and compare his line of fire to the target's facing. If the projectile (or whatever) comes into the target's hex, it's coming from the direction of the hex facing it passed through.
