Modern day fairy tales

This thread: http://forums.sjgames.com/showthread.php?t=85993

Pyramid 3/13 Thaumatology

and this bottom of page message:
Quote:

The settings for fairy tales were once near-modern; the times and situations they spoke of would have been commonplace to their listeners (or required little mental adjustment). As an interesting twist, then, what if the fairy-tale tropes and situations were applied to different genres. What would a fairy-tale Transhuman Space or World War II campaign resemble?

Got me thinking about modern world fairytale campaign with modern day storytellers as protagonists. So they need modern day fairy tales to tell. I mostly am thinking of tropes from TV/ cinema etc So things like:

you can always get away from the explosion at the last second.

forensic evidence is damning and easy to find/prove

The goodie always wins

But even after playing L.A. Confidential I can see how tropes from noir are great too. Such as:

The protagonist 'often' dies

Hardened detective can find clues prove things that noone else can

Any suggestions or thoughts for riding the narrative modern campaigns?

That's kind of missing the point. All you end up with is a Hollywood game.
