Helping while dead

Hi sorry bout this question but one of my players is an idiot and wants confirmation. We were playing Munchkin zombies and player 1 just died on the last turn. Player two enters combat and wants the dead player to help them in combat so they can get the bonus from the smart power. I say that a dead player can't help in combat but we can't find it in the rules where it says that a dead player can't help. The only way we could settle this was to go on the forums and get your advice. Thanks in advance.

You rise from the dead at the beginning of the next player's turn. You just don't get to draw a new hand until your next turn. It is spelled out in the rules under "Death"

Since the dead player came back to life when the next player's turn started, he wasn't dead when the other player wanted his help.

Death is an extremely short-lived state of being. You come back to life at the start of the next player's turn, but you don't get new cards until the start of your next turn.

So if the dead player comes back to life at the start of the next players turn can they help that player in combat if they whant to?

That's what we're saying. They aren't dead. They would come back to life at the beginning of the turn after they died, so they would be alive and available to help.

I suppose it might be POSSIBLE for somebody to get killed, by a curse or something, before combat on somebody else's turn, which means they WOULD be dead during somebody else's combat. I don't know what cards, if any, exist that would make that happen (I can't think of any offhand, but my knowledge of card text is FAR from comprehensive), but if it did, I would assume that THEN they couldn't help while dead. But I'm not certain.

The important thing is that Death only lasts until the complete end of the turn which caused it. Once the turn that killed you is over, you aren't dead anymore. You still lost your cards (besides mojos, powers, and levels, of course), but you aren't dead once the next turn begins.

The rule that Mister Ed quoted said:

I emphasized the part which says that the player who died, and is now no longer dead, is more than capable of helping. So, if your friends are as particular as you say, then they can't possibly try to get around that one.

Fugu(Fu) And a Reloaded Die(Various) could cause an out of combat death(since GUALs can be played on any player at any time).
