[LT] Centaur Armor

We have a centaur in our group. How do we buy LT armor for him ?

I tend towards using the percentages for horses for everything except those for the horse head, and then human percentages for torso, head and arms.

Are there other ideas ?

I'd do exactly the same thing. It makes sense.

That seems reasonable, although I think that most images of centaurs I've seen tend to have their horse parts somewhat smaller than a typical warhorse. I'd say a typical fantasy artwork centaur was based on something like a 14 hand pony.

Then again, IIRC, LT horse armor doesn't differ between ponies and warhorses.

Yes. What I am mainly unsure about is the neck. The horse neck is a 50% location and at least overlaps with the human torso, or, to put it another way, does the human torso replace the norse neck completely ?

Hmm. Wouldn't this result in the centaur being unable to move? Or do centaurs have huge ST?

Re: [LT] Centaur Armor

I assume that BL is based on horse torso ST to calculate encumbrance. At ST 18 thatīs BL 65. And the centaur only has to consider the weight of armor, weapons and equipment - there is no seperate rider who is the heaviest item when calculating encumbrance for horses.

Judging from the pictures I found on google, the torso replaces the neck.

I would give the centaur all human hit locations above the waist (with human-sized armour) plus a horse Torso, Forelegs, Hindlegs, Tail, and Groin (with horse-sized armour). Also see the Quadruped hit location table p. B553.

Isn't 14 or 15 hands high a typical warhorse height? I'm not sure if I recognize the other differences, like a thicker barrel and shorter, studier legs, in fantasy art. Anyways, GURPS has a house policy of not differentiating armour costs and weights between things with the same SM and racial template.
