Restraining Order

I have a question that came up this weekend playing.

A player was in combat and I played and its little friends and a lvl 7 monster with it. 3 other player laid down low lvl monsters (under 7) and the played added it up, he could not win the combat, so he player restraing order on me. I took back my Monster and my and its little friends card. Would the other monsters stay in combat?

Our interpretation was that this was a timing issue. If he hit me with the restraining order before others played cards it would have stopped the combat, but we argued nce the other monsters were in combat returning my cards did not remove them.

I would think that if you picked up your card because he played his then all the other cards that relied on yours to be played would have to be picked up too. That is a bad timing issue though unless he felt he didn't have ample time to respond to your card before everyone else started throwing in theirs.

The other players' ability to add monsters to the combat was triggered by the card that you played; if you back that card out of the turn, then all of the cards triggered by it need to go back as well.

Restraining Order does not undo the effects of a card that has been played unless the card itself gave a particular bonus or level to either side of the combat. Therefore the effect of "and It's Little Friends" would still be in place if restraining order was used on the player who played it. If it's used before someone played a monster, that would keep them from playing the monster however.

Haha I know it!
To be honest, the only reason I was leery about all the effects of those cards being undone is because Munchkin has no stacking mechanic.
Also keep in mind how many cards may have been played as a result of "and It's Little Friends". The other players might beef up the new monsters or the main player might have removed one of them from combat somehow. Then as a last resort, he plays Restraining Order! You'd have to undo and keep track of WAY too much just because of what "and It's Little Friends" got done!
