multiple monsters in one combat

Player A is facing a level 15 Tentacle Demon. Player B wanders in a level 12 Tongue Demon (and A is forced to discard one small item immediately). Now Player C throws in Humongous, +10 to monster. Does that go on one specific monster? I've read (I think) that it goes to the "monster side of the combat" (not a direct quote).

What happens when A decides to use his Magic Lamp on one monster? Can he say "I'll Lamp the Tentacle Demon and its +10" thereby leaving an unenhanced Tongue Demon to deal with?

Re: multiple monsters in one combat

In general, monster enhancers go on SPECIFIC monsters.

In a multi-monster combat, there are strategic decisions about which monsters are enhanced and which are removed (charm, lamp, tame, etc), since removal also removes the enhancer. [Mod: deleted a complication which is not important to answer the basic question]

Potions and other one-shot items played to help the monsters are added to the monsters' SIDE. They are not affected by the removal or addition of monsters.

I think you should check the wording on the card. There is a distinction. The +10 to monster is exactly that. To a monster so one chooses which monster it is played on. This is different from potions which say play on either side. So while a small distinction that should clear up part of your question. (I looked at two sets and this wording was the same in both)

Without looking at my magic lamp card if it removes one monster from combat then the person who plays it gets to choose which monster is removed so yes they could remove the tentacle demon with the +10 to monster as per your example.

Re: multiple monsters in one combat

A Monster Enhancer (+5 to Monster, for instance) must go on a specific monster. If something makes the monster leave the fight, it takes its enhancers with it. One-shot items played to help the monsters are played to help the side, however, and will remain if some monsters leave. (If ALL monsters leave . . . is an open question we have never satisfactorily answered. Thank you for your somewhat oblique reminder to nail that one down.)

Thanks for the quick replies, especially to the followup question I forgot to ask (about the one-shots).

If all monsters leave... I suppose there would be a mess of potions left splattered on the dungeon floor? lol
