Quick question about kneepads of allure

When using the kneepads of allure, are you limited to enlisting 1 person to help? Or can you force everyone to help you? I believe that it is only 1, but my boyfriend thinks that you can ask everyone. What say you?

I believe it is always only one other person can help in a fight, not including a hireling.

You may only ever get one player to help you during a given combat. If you have a helper, you can't get another one. The Kneepads of Allure don't break that rule.
