Munchkin Level Counter app worth it?
 

So I'm getting my Ipod Touch today and was wondering if the Munchkin Level Counter app was worth the 4.99 price tag. Any thoughts?

I love having it on my iphone. Even without the boons, just having the kill-o-meter (since I don't own a physical one) comes in so handy to keep track of combat strengths.

Yes, yes, yes - so worth it. I'm waiting (not so patiently) for the Android version because one guy in our group has it for the iPhone and has been pretty lucky in pulling great boons from the app.

Quick note: even if you have the app, you may want to get a kill-o-meter, for the nifty little bonus card that comes with it. It's changed the dynamic of our games pretty drastically.

I concur with the other posters. It's absolutely worth it, especially if you have more than one device (iPhone, touch or iPad). You can load it onto each for the one price. Remember also that the boons get better if you wait....

The app is totally worth it! From what I've heard, there's over 120 boons in there (I've gotten something like 30 so far, and only one duplicate). That's like an entire new expansion set for Munchkin. Plus having a pair of kill-o-meters is ridiculously handy.

I've seen something like 90 for Munchkin, so the rest are probably for Munchkin Quest.

right new house rule time. Iphones or anything else with an apple do not get any bonus. Don't see why I should be penalised just because I'm smart enough not to buy one! Here in Oz they are easily the most broken phone and can't do much that other phones can't do. The only difference is the apps you get.

In Aus they are actually the most popular smartphone by far (all the telcos and apple sell them-greater choice than the US). Not sure about the allegation that they are breakable. Anecdotally, I've dropped mine heaps of times without any issues.
But each to their own. As the dag says it's the apps that make the platform great and the level counter is one of those great apps.

One update suggestion I would have though is themed level art to match the other genre munchkin games.

Yes, this app is totally worth the five dollars. It's cheaper than the paper one, has more effects than the single card you get with the irl counter, and above all it makes a very satisfying chime when you level up!

(I agree with the themed art! I'd love some Cthulhu or Space themes! The art looks great on the Iphone.)
