Splitting treasures in shared combat with Hoard

During a combat today where a munchkin had a helper, they negotiated terms up front that the helper would get his pick of 2 of the 4 treasures. They win, treasure cards come face up. One of them is Hoard.

So here's my question: Does the Hoard clause invoke immediately, i.e. the helper now gets his pick of 2 (negotiated number) of the 6 treasures available, or does the Hoard clause invoke once he chooses Hoard and puts it in his hand (which only happens for a split second since it has to be played immediately)?

Hoard gets dealt with immediately. That's so important, I really, really emphasized it. Another thing to bear in mind: Only the player whose turn it is draws cards. Once all the cards are drawn may the other player take his picks, so if Hoard comes up, all the cards get drawn (so, in this case, once all 6 have been drawn), then the helper may choose his 2.

I'm sorry to take slightly away from the main question.. but why are the cards drawn face up? Is there a rule where if you helps someone fight you have to draw the treasures face up?

Yes, there is, on p. 3 under "Treasure":

Quote:

Draw face-up, so the whole party can see what you got, if someone helped you.

Yes, the rules say, in the section Treasure, on p. 3:

Quote:

Draw face-down if you killed the monster alone. Draw face-up, so the whole party can see what you got, if someone helped you.
