Big Item Rule

I am having difficulty finding the Big Item rule. The Search option doesn't search the word "Big" because it is only three letters long. Would someone please explain or post a link to the rule? I'd like to know what action a player is to take when he/she inherits too many big items. Thanks.

Re: Big Item Rule

The rules sheet pretty much covers every situation with big items.

You can only have one big item in play at a time, unless you have an ability that says otherwise. If you loose that ability, (for instance, losing your Dwarf race card), you have to either sell the extra big items (as long as it's a legal sale) or give to the lowest level player. If neither is possible, you discard. Well, I suppose in some instances you might be able to discard to power an ability as well, which can be done in place of selling or charity.

Cards in your hand that are big items don't count against your total.

It's all under "Items" in the rules.

Thanks buddy. So it sounds like if I have too many big items and can't sell them I have to give one to the player on the lowest level. If I am on the lowest level, the big item would then be discarded. Correct?

No. It's the lowest level player of those eligible. Your Level doesn't come into play. If no one is eligible (they already have a Big Item and don't have a way to carry another one, or are simply unable to carry big Items), then you can discard the Item. Also, selling is something you can only do on your turn, so if this happens when it's not your turn, you can't sell the Item along with others, if necessary, to get a Level.

It's also worth noting that you cannot play a second Big item in order to get rid of the first one -- you have to ditch the first Item (by selling it, discarding it to power an ability, trading it, or losing it to a Curse or Bad Stuff) before you can legally play the second one.

It does seem weird to me that you can't simply discard a big item.

You can't discard any items, Big or small, just because you feel like it. That's always been in the rules, and we made it a lot clearer in the new printings. You have to find a legal way to get rid of something you don't want anymore.

No true munchkin would ever just throw something away for no benefit!

The urge to hoard loot outweighs the desire for new loot.

Re: Big Item Rule

Say it is my turn and I am on the lowest level of the three players in the game. I kick down the door and pull Curse! Generosity and I have to give away an item to each of the other two players. The player on the highest level is carrying a Big Item and can only carry one Big Item. Can I decide to give the player on the highest level a Big Item, thus forcing that player to give one of his Big Items to me? Or do I have to give the other player my Big Item because the player on the highest level can't carry any more Big Items?

You cannot give a Big item to a player who cannot play a Big item.
