"Helpful" Wizards using the Charm spell

A week ago my siblings and my sister's boyfriend and I were playing a game. My sister was in combat she couldn't win and I offered to help for one [of four] treasures, to which she agreed. I then used the Charm spell, discarding my hand [my cards must be the older print - doesn't say minimum of 3 cards] and sending the monster off. I then rationalized that since I charmed the monster, it left the treasure to me and I got it all - no levels were gained. Needless to say my sister was not happy with me.

However I've been reading through the forums and I'm thinking I was wrong in this assumption. If the Charm spell is used to resolve a combat, by a player helping out, does the original combatant player still distribute the loot as per the agreement? Or can the helper Wizard [Sorcerer's Apprentice? teehee] take advantage of the spell and keep all of the treasure for themself?

Treasure is distributed according to the original agreement.

Alright, I began to suspect so. Thanks for the clarification, Andrew! =]
