Compounding Injuries

We had a situation earlier today when a player, at level one, was killed AND suffered level drain. Now, this means he is killed twice over, and we ruled that he should have to wait two turns to come back. He argued and stated that since he was dead it wasn't as if he could then die again, except even worse.

What should happen when a player is hit with both a level drain and death on the same turn while at level one?

First: if you are Level 1 and lose one Level nothing happens. You do not die. You just ignore the level loss.

Second: Your friend is right. Once he is dead, he does not even needo to roll for further Run Away atempts. He is dead. Next round, he is back.

Thanks for the clarification.

In Munchkin, once you're dead, you're DEAD, there's no being killed twice over.

And no player can go below level 1, no matter what. Remember, combat strength CAN go below 1 but not the level.

I'm not sure about losing a turn when you die. But I don't think you do, unless the death was coupled with losing a turn due to a monster's Bad Stuff.

This is why it can be important to choose the order in which you roll to run away from monsters. For example, if one causes you to die and another causes you to lose levels (assuming you're not at level 1), then you'd probably want to attempt the "death" roll first. That way, if you fail the roll and die, you won't risk losing the levels from the other monster's bad stuff.
