Battle question

When you have a curse that says "Do not use your weapons at your next battle", if you help someone is this counted as your battle and you can't use your weapons? Or you must enter the room and face a monster to be counted as yours?

Re: Battle question

Yes, your next combat/battle means just that. Whether you find a monster when you open a room, look for trouble, help someone in combat or get forced into a combat, your weapons are useless for that combat.

I'll be interested to see what the PTB's say about that wording.

There is a difference between "YOUR" next combat, and the "next combat you are in".

The rules lawyer in me says "YOUR" next combat means the one on your turn, ie, it is your combat. If you help someone else, it is not "YOUR" combat.

I will sit in the corner and wait for the Wise Munchkin Masters to come....

I am not a wise munchkin master. Wise guy, perhaps.

But look at the rules

and the FAQ

A. If the combat is still unresolved (and obviously it is, because people are still playing cards on you for it), then that combat is the "next" one.

Notice that neither of these say you are in "your combat" or "a combat you started" or "a combat on your turn",

At least for the purposes of a curse, any combat you are in is YOUR combat.

I will sometimes help someone for less treasure than the going rate simply to be rid of a "next combat" curse, so that on my turn I can enter combat clean with no penalties.

A curse that triggers during your next combat means the next combat you are in, as a helper or the main fighter, and if you're in combat right that second, it means THAT one.
