Interferring with "Help Me Out Here"
My munchkin was wearing the Helm of Peripheral Vision, and I was also an orc, which made my life relatively simple. Another Munchkin in the game entered combat and played the "Help Me Out Here" card, stealing the helm that way. Before his action was complete, I polymorphed the Monster he was fighting, claiming that he can no longer steal my helm as there is no combat for my Helm to make a difference in (which the card clearly states is the driving force).
Please clarify if my Polymorph negates his Help Me Out Here Card. On a similar note relating to order of process... My Munchkin was fighting a monster and I played the Friendly card. Right after I played Friendly, another Munchkin played Dead Broke in response. Do I lose the treasure, or does Dead Broke need to be played before combat resolves? Is the general rule in Munchkin that the cards need to be resolved in the order they are played unless otherwise specified? |

Re: Interferring with "Help Me Out Here"
Munchkin is first in, first out, unless a card explicitly says otherwise. In example one you are out of luck.
For example two, the exact text of the card might make an exception, and since I'm not familiar enough with them I will let someone else answer that. (No, please do not post the exact text of the card!!) |
Re: Interferring with "Help Me Out Here"
You couldn't prevent Help Me Out Here like that, since you have to wait for an action to complete before you can perform another; cards which can cancel an action are explicit about that ability. As for your other question, Friendly doesn't end the combat immediately, so there's no question that that play was legal.

As soon as a card is played (declared), it is DONE. Anything declared afterward has to wait until the first card is completely resolved before it can take effect. The only way to prevent a card from working is to use a card that explicitly says "cancels". If a card does not say "cancels" then it can't stop ANYTHING. This applies to any abilities of cards in play as well. If you declare you're using the Kneepads, the target cannot "prevent" that by playing Change Sex on themselves. They would be dragged in to help, and THEN change sex... but still be stuck helping. Short answer for geeks: Munchkin works the opposite of Magic for stacks and order of resolution. |

Details schmetails.....
More relevantly, I've been playing very little Fantasy as of late, so I'm a bit rusty. Those two are fairly similar. Andrew is as usual, always correct, in all things :) |
