[Spaceships] Troop deploy hangar

I've got another space marines-style question for ship design.

If you have use a hangar space, with it's fast air-lock capability, how many battlesuited troops could you deploy from it? Would you have to install passenger seating, or could that be regarded as part of the hangar facilities and weight allocation?

Or would it be better to describe a new system, based on the Passenger Seating system, but with airlock capability and the seats eject the troops out the bottom of the hull on rails, through individual doors or with the belly doors opening right up.

I'm having trouble describing it, but I've seen something similar in a recent movie or TV show though I can't recall what it was (the new Star Trek?). It would be used for deploying battlesuit troops in space to take over a crippled target or for orbit-to-high altitude drops.

Rate of deployment should just be based on weight, shouldn't it?

Yep. It's simply a Hangar system, with each battlesuited trooper having a mass of around 0.25-0.5 tons, depending on loadout.

Or it could be based off the SM of the battlesuited troopers?

Sure, you could do that instead.

The listed launch times strike me as a bit slow for either-

a) A squad of troopers running across the floor of an open hangar and jumping/jet-packing out the open door

b) Dropping out on drop-rails in a belly-launch configuration

Unless airlock depressurisation times are included in the launch time.

Each system is 5% of spacecraft mass. They're not all on the surface of the ship, meaning there's some depth to them. You have some people standing behind others, waiting their turn. Though this is very much minimized in small ships where the hangar IS very close to the surface, due to the ship being so small.

I figured it would have the depth of a ship- so a SM +10 ship with a 300 ton hangar could carry 3 SM +6 100 ton ships, 10-20 yards long each (IIRC).

And remember that a hangar system would by definition be on the surface of the ship, as it has hangar doors facing onto space. You could design something with old-fashioned Battle Star Galactica launch tubes, but that wouldn't be the default.

The way Spaceships resolves combat damage, anything not core is on the surface. But if your ship is a 300 yard long 200 yard diameter cylinder, then your hanger is essentially a wedge with a 100 x ~104 yard mouth that can be the hangar bay doors, but it's still 100 yards deep (assuming no core system in that section). So while yes, all hangers have launch doors, the entirety of the hangar is not within 20 yards of the ship's skin. It takes time to stage and move things up to the hangar doors. It makes sense that the entire capacity of the hangar cannot be launched at once, especially for the larger hangars.
