Is Being Caught the same as Death?

I'm confused. Not unusual.

Player A at Level 3 (no bonuses) draws Bigfoot at Level 12 and has to deal with it. Obviously, the player cannot kill Bigfoot so he tries to run away. But he fails and is caught.

Does Player A die?

If he doesn't die, how *does* a player die?

If he does die, why does the "Bad Stuff" for Bigfoot include "Lose the headgear you were wearing"? All your gear is going to be lost anyway...

Never mind. I answered my own question, I think.

When you get caught (having failed to run away), the "Bad Stuff" on the monster card happens to you. This may, or may not, involve being killed.

Further, as I read in the FAQ, the Bad Stuff for a monster may sound killing when it really isn't.

Bigfoot: "Stomps you flag and eats your hat. Lose the Headgear you were wearing" is NOT death.

Bullrog: "Your are flayed to death" IS death.

Plutonium Dragon: "You are roasted and eaten" is presumably death.

If I recall correctly, in the 19th printing of Munchkin, the Plutonium Dragon text now specifically states that your are dead.

EDIT: Yes, this is correct. Found it in the change log.
