Monster arriving after combat, legal?
 

A few moments ago, some friends of mine started to discuss about a somewhat peculiar way to use a Wandering Monster.

One said that the Wandering Monster can only be used WHILE in combat, to ADD a monster to the combat.

The other one said that, (making use of the 2,6 seconsd rule) any player can use the Wandering Monster card to make appear a new monster once the previous one was deffeated (by killing it, using the wizard's charm spell, etc). as far as those 2,6 seconds are still running.

Now I ask you, wise elder-players of Munchkin. Which one is right?

Any player may use a Wandering Monster, so long as the about 2.6 seconds aren't up, to add a Monster to the combat. You fight the Monsters together, summing their levels, bonuses, penalties, and effects.

Of course, that's the way we all play the card everyday. With your answer I suppose there's no chance to use the Wandering Monster to add a new monster once the first is defeated.

If a players auto-kills/defeats the monster via something like the Wizard's Charm, then you can still play Wandering Monster and the player only has to fight that one monster since the other has already been removed.

In the event that a player is beating a monster in levels/bonuses, then the other players can play a Wandering Monster and the player is now fighting both monsters.

However, the other players cannot allow you to defeat the first monster normally (with levels and bonuses), then wander in a new monster. At that point, the combat is over.
