Layering Armor in 4e
I finally have the 4e Basic books and I've notice what must be a mistake on p. 286. Under Combining and Layering Armor it states that "you can only layer armor if the inner layer is both flexible and concealable. The Headgear table list the Mail Coif as flexible but not as concealable. This doesn't make sense because coifs are often worn beneath a helm. Buff Coats have the same problem if Steel Breastplates are still sometimes worn over them as stated in GURPS Swashbuckler 2nd Edition.
OOPS! It seems that I made this thread post twice by using my back button to fix a typo. |
Re: Layering Armor in 4e
Both cases seem fine to me. I guess a little [1] note on the armor tables would be welcome on both. Sorry!

Re: Layering Armor in 4e
Well, since both cases would be rather awkward for concealment perhaps a footnote that marks them as case exceptions to the layering rules.

Re: Layering Armor in 4e
When it's a case of rules vs. what you know is true or makes sense, go with the latter.
