Death

My friends and I have been arguing about this for a while. Are you allowed to play a card from your hand to prevent it from being lost from dying?

We were playing Super Munchkin and my friend was going to die, after he rolled the dice and learned he was going to die, he played Alternate World Version.

Is that allowed?

No. Once you die, YOU DIE. The exception, as always in these cases, is a Loaded Die or similar "Ha ha, I escape anyway" card.

Once the die says you die, you die. Loaded die or something that allows you to escape despite the failure to run away. So at that point, the only thing that can be modified is the run away resolution itself.

When I've expected to die before, I often will do what I can do discard any cards I don't want the other munchkins to have. All have to be done right before the roll.

The Munchkin Cthulhu Dice of Doom d10 from Q-Workshop allows you to try to cheat death. Or die trying.
