Animal Attunements

Does anyone else notice some glaring holes in Jordi's Choir Attunements?

Seraphim: Marine Life

Cherubim: Felines

Ofanim: Flying Animals

Elohim: Reptiles

Malakim: Canines

Kyriotates: Insects (interpreting broadly to include Arachnids & other "bugs")

Mercurians: Primates

So this leaves (off the top of my head): Ursines, Equines (& other hooves animals like deer gazelles & bovines), Pachaderms, Flightless Birds, & Rodents.

Ok, we can drop Ursines by interpreting the Cherub Attunement rather broadly, as ursines are on the feline half of the carniverous mammal spectrum. They also hunt (i.e. fish) alone & of course the Mother Bear metaphor is way to provactive to not give it to the Cherubim.

I don't know about the others though... I suppose one could be the Grigori Attunement (though the online write-up I've been using for the Grigori in my campaigns have the Outcaste Grigori of Animals actually inhabit human or primal pseudo-human Vessels... one would presume Big Foot to be a Grigori of Animals under this interpretation). Perhaps though, a more appropriate Attunement (as Mercurians already've got Primates) would be that Grigori of Animals get vessels of mamalian herbivores. That should be sufficiantly broad to cover alot of ground & stay in theme with the Outcaste gentle giants we know & love (though would love to know better via e23...)

So what do you think about Grigori of Animals bein Attuned to Mammalian Herbivores? What do you think about Ursines falling under the Cherub of Animals Attunement? How do, or how would you handle covering the animals ignored by the write-up for Jordi in the Corebook?

I'd say give Flightless birds and Rodents to Ofanim.
If a bird cant fly, they have other ways of moving about, and they usually do it quickly, be it running or swimming.
As for rodents... have you seen a Shrew or gerbil? It just screams Ofanite :P

I'm with you on the birds, but I think rodents is a bit much of a thematic leap from their original attunement.

Re: Animal Attunements

How about broadening them to roles as animals?

Cherubim: Pets
Malakim: Pack predators
Ofanim: Aerial and frenetic.
Kyrios: Swarms and flocks

Just my 2 measures of Essence.

So... if the Cherubim Attunement is based upon "Pets", does that mean that Great Cats are dropped (save perhaps Lions who would fall under the expanded Malakite Attunement)?

Re: Animal Attunements

Only if you want to drop them.

*shrugs* Whatever you do, it ain't Canon. :D

Why not just give them a servitor attunement that allows them to make a perception check to "attune" to the Nature of the Beast (heh) and communicate with a new type of animal?

Again, I don't expect this to neccessarily solve everything, but it's worth a shot.
