Aquabatics Prerequisites

I am wondering why Semi-Aquatic isn't one of the optional prerequisites for this skill. In the RAW it states: "Swimming, or the Amphibious advantage or the Aquatic disadvantage". IMO, this should state "Swimming, or the Amphibious advantage, the Aquatic disadvantage or the Semi-Aquatic disadvantage".

Semi-Aquatic beings are just as equipped for this as an Aquatic being would be, do you think?

A minor oversight, I'd say. Yeah... Semi-Aquatic should count as a prereq also.

I can't imagine someone with Semi-Aquatic ever willing to learn Aquabatics. It will be a skill with a built-in penalty for its main use! Read carefully:

You suffer skill penalties under water, yet move at 1/5 on the ground too! Now, if there was a way to suffer skill penalties on land instead of underwater (I once asked for such a swap's legality in a thread), that would be another matter.

This is a good point. Semi-aquatic makes me think of seals and the like... they are disadvangaged on land not in water. I can't think but that the quote above is wrong in the italiced text...

(and yes, I'm resurrecting an old question as I come back around to it, sorry all)

Heh… doing a little revival of my own :)

I’m OK with ignoring that bit from the text of No Legs. It makes sense to me to allow the swapping of penalties for Semi-Aquatic (penalties that would normally apply in water instead apply on land)… or perhaps reduced penalties in both environments.

Re: Aquabatics Prerequisites

Given that people with the swimming skill can apparently use aquabatics, I'm not seeing how taking standard skill penalties in the water is going to completely discourage a creature with substantially stronger aquatic tendencies.
