[MA] It's already been said a million times but-
Awesome book. Finally got it do to a very generous donation and I've finished burning most of the info down in my frontal lobe for two days straight. I know I'm late to the party, but better late than never.
Awesome work guys, just awesome. With this new knowledge, my GMs will NEVER let me play a fencer ever again! :D ...among many things. |
Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
Glad to know you like it. MA is a superb masterwork book, and very useful for all kind of campaigns involving combat.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm glad you like the book. And that was a very nice gesture by the generous folk(s) who helped you out with the funds. Thanks all around.

I hate to say "Ditto!", but I agree with everything Peter just said. Thanks!

Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
I've actually got people into GURPS with the martial arts rules. They are by far the best rule supplement for GURPS in terms of research and playability.

Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
I also know people who have only bought GURPS because they needed to be able to use Martial Arts.
It is a terrific book. Just the kind of useful toolkit that works so well with GURPS. |
Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
I finally bought a copy last week, and I've found it hard to put the book down. It has become a major influence on the GURPS material I'm currently writing.
Thanks, Peter and Sean. |
Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
Thanks guys. The compliments - especially from another author! - are all appreciated.
We really went "academically rigorous" on the research. I didn't want to put my name, or have a published put their name, on a work that wasn't as accurate as we could possibly make it. If you haven't see it, the Designer's Notes talk a bit about the research we did. We did lots of it . . . I'm glad it paid off in a book people really enjoy. Plus if it's getting people into GURPS, that's even better! Hopefully it'll encourage some people to get into the martial arts, too. And to watch out so they don't pick up Trained By A Fraud. |
Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
Aye, it is a very good read. I've been reading bits and pieces of it over and over the past few days, most notably the beats and such which just add a whole new level to combat. I can't wait to put some of this info to use.
And ,Blood you are very much so correct in your assumptions. Don't ever expect to play a fencer in one of my campaigns and if you somehow manage to sneak one in there... well, let's just say keep an eye on the roofs because I will not hesitate to Carmine you ^_^ |
Re: [MA] It's already been said a million times but-
Play a fencer in my games, and you'll find why a rapier is not used against an axe or greatsword...
