I guess it could be argued that the GM (Professor Tolkien) made the character with enough levels of Unkillable so that when the character was slain by Isildur (easily done, after Sauron's battles with Gil-Gilad and Elendil), he was able to take on a spirit or ghost template. What about the ring? Well, it was technically Sauron's body, and Professor Tolkien decided that Signature Gear points can't be spent on one's body...

I'm only joking, of course.
