Question about usable only once items
In the rules it states any item can be place in front of you as carried. My question is can you do this with one shot items as well? If so, do you have to indicate before you open the door if the one shot item is going to be used or can you just use it when you need it (as if you were taking it from your hand?)

Re: Question about usable only once items
Whether a treasure card is usable once or not doesn't matter. The only that that matters is whether it is an item or not, which is determined by whether it has a price in the lower right corner on the card. If it has a price, it can be placed with your items on the table.
Whether you keep it in your hand or place it on the table, you can use it once only at any time during combat. |
Re: Question about usable only once items
So I am assuming if it is in front of you, then you don't have to declare that you are using it before a battle starts? Is there a limit to the number of potions you can have in front of you (most of them don't have hand restrictions).

Re: Question about usable only once items
None of them should have hand restrictions and the rules tell you that you may carry any number of small Items.
So:
Which means, you can have as many potions in play as you want, and since they don't have any hand restrictions, you can use all the ones you were carrying or happen to have in your hand during any combat, even one you're not in. And, finally, if you want to use a one-shot Item, you need to "discard" it. So, to use it, it's not whether you have it out in front of you, but that you have actively put it into the combat (after which, the actual discarding will occur). |
Re: Question about usable only once items

Re: Question about usable only once items
i have a question also about usable once only cards in general:
If the card says "usable once only" do you literally take it out of the game for good once it is destined for the discard pile? ie. if a card is usable once only can a player use a skill or card to retrieve that card once it has been discarded?? |

Re: Question about usable only once items
To get this straight, I can have "Canned Meat" or "Loaded Dice" in play and use them later?

Re: Question about usable only once items
Yes. That's why the rules say, "Any one-shot item can be played during any combat, whether you have it in your hand or on the table." Loaded Die and Canned Meat are Items (they have a name, an ability/bonus, a size and a value). The rules also say you can carry any number of Small Items, never once saying that you can't carry one-shot Items. To be honest, I can find but a single Big one-shot Item, so you could technically carry every last one-shot Item in all the games if you could somehow luck out that way during a mega blender game.
Now, bear in mind, there are cards that say, "Usable once only," that are not Items. Those must stay in your hand. |

I know I made a huge list of them not long back, so I'll just post a link. . .
