larger item list?

is there a good place or thread to find a larger list of items for various TLs? Specifically TL 2 - 5 ish, fantasy and minor tech stuff? Im looking for common things a given adventurer would want / need/ possibly think about needing and the basic book just doesnt have a big enough list imo...ty

Flint and steel, a good knife, possibly a hatchet or ax, a waterskin or gourd, a bedroll and/or cloak, possibly a cooking pot (most likely ceramic). That's off the top of my head. Low-Tech has some expanded lists, I don't recall if that's out for 4e yet, but the 3e version will still probably be helpful, if you have access to it.

Depends on the type of game you have.

If it's an outdoor game, check out several of the vast number of books on camping/hiking/fishing/survival. These have lists of "what you need in the boonies" components.

If it's military, check out the various on-line .pdf manuals for various eras. Look also for "soldier's handbook" titles. IIRC for the 19th Century Field Marshal Wolseley had a "Soldier's Pocket Book" (1869) which is available at http://books.google.com/books?id=uVYBAAAAQAAJ&dq=%22soldier's+pocket+book% 22&printsec=frontcover&source=web&ots=ceux7umYq5&s ig=FOo-n_nzahJzSKN5L40vAzcqE5w

You may be able to find as well catalogs of sporting and outdoors goods from various suppliers of the late 19th century; the Sears of 1889 [Edit: 1899 is the correct date] had a recent reprint that should be available. Note that this is fairly comprehensive, but the prices will be somewhat lower than those found at "over the counter" stores. You would have to adjust for this; Sears traded lower prices for the inconvenience of mail order.

You also can look through almost any variety of other RPG that covers the time period --most will have their own lists. Where the prices conflict you as GM can decide which price, weight is accurate -- if the players complain note the wide variety of prices that they will find in their own country, depending on store, location, time of year, special sales, etc.

Poke around for price lists for HARN (a highly realistic take on feudal-medieval fantasy) Lythia.com has some good stuff on it. (You will need to do some conversion/adjustment to translate to GURPS values, but they are pretty good.) I.C.E published a book several years ago called ...and a 10-Foot Pole with tons of items for all different tech levels (though the prices need conversion, it's not too hard to translate from the daily wage they list vs. GURPS.)

What is the cost of your average tavern ale? For those rare places that provide room and board, what's a good price to go by?

How many dollars do [x] pounds of material [z] cost?

Art
Gems
Jewelry
Spices
Statues
Anything else that could be considered loot available to sell enmass.
Someone finds a kris with a skull adorned in the cross-guard with 2 ruby eyes with teeth of solid silver and a blade made of steels not known to man. Whats the going price?

That website with farthings and pounds and crowns and shillings is all well useful for a historian but your average gamer heading into college would go hurr for about an hour and a half before someone exceedingly more intelligent could no longer bare not to strike them with something that was at the very least heavy on one side.

What's a daily peasants wage? What's a daily nobles wage? What levels of wealth and status do [x] people really have?

I.C.E put out a book called ...And a 10 Foot Pole. It's the most complete listing of equipment I have ever seen. It includes material prices, labor prices, market prices, availability, production times etc. for thousands of items. it rocks. I've thumbed it a few times, but haven't managed to pick it up myself yet.

Cannot vouch for "historically accurate" prices, but it certainly is a larger list of equipment than in the basic book and (if I'm not mistaken), it's already in Gurps "$" for pricing
