By the way, what's the highest TL in all of human civilization?

Some places -- nowhere in this game -- have TL11 materials science and power generation. Even there, it's generally restricted for military use.

The worlds of the Catacombs are solidly TL10, with a couple backwater places. Kashti, which is reclusive, probably couldn't maintain TL10 without substantial imports. Merlin IV, which is poor and agrarian (but a good place to buy hand-carved furniture), is TL10 only because they can import it. Local production is TL8 or 9; cut off, they'd regress to TL 8, probably.

Even TL8 is a pretty substantial thing to maintain (perhaps unless you had TL9+ products still surviving to maintain it with..), so go Merlin IV!

Also, RL is being less hasslessome, so I'm gonna email you my (rough) character momentarily. And a further also, I like that you capitalized Real Life -- the real world is a bitch of a game system.

Some worlds have another language that's spoken among the natives.

So, in GURPS terms, if you already speak English (Interstellar) are the dialects generally [0] for written, and [1] for spoken?

That sounds about right.

I just sent you the characters, dscheit. Equipment and detailed backgrounds are still missing. I'll send the equipment I have in mind in a bit; background stories will follow once you accepted the characters.

Not exactly, but that would have been fun, too:
"Ah, you know how these things happen. I saved him from the she-dragon and found him to be goodlooking and wealthy. Three days later we married." :)

I'm thinking of just blowing, like, $10,000 to $20,000 on scientific gear, come up with that gear later, and call it a day. :S

I've made the first scene setting post to the IC thread. Nothing is going to happen before the safety briefing, unless you choose to make it happen. You should make your way forward to the first-class lounge for the briefing. I'll post the description of the lounge, and what the map you have tells you about the rest of the ship in a bit.

A question: what exactly is a bulb? Oh, and how do you like my first IC post? I haven't had as much experience in pbp as some people have.

A bulb is a squeeze bottle, used to hold liquids in zero gravity. These are fancy ones, with a heater and the cream and sugar already inside (you don't have to add them, of course.)

The post was fine.
