I'm sorry to hear that. :( I hope you (and your hand) feel better soon.

You think i'd have learned by now that things that have been a 350F oven are going to be hot, huh?

A halligan tool is a combination pick, adze, and crowbar, widely used by firefighters to open locked things in a hurry.

Lonewulf, Xerxes does have an NAI. It's in his wristwatch computer. I just wasn't aware that you were continually sending the video feed to everyone.

The data streams you all have access to are (and I'm probably forgetting a few):

1) suit mounted video cameras on everybody's suit (available in visible light and infrared)
2) audio from everyone
3) sensor data from everyone -- each suit reports the temperature of its surrounding, atmospheric pressure, and a bunch of health status information about its wearer -- pulse, respiration, blood oxygenation, and other things (like its maintenance state)
4) Ad-hoc point-to-point links, for private comms

You can't possibly follow all that, so you rely on the tactical comm programs running on your NAI to keep track of it for you. Those of you with implant computers have a distinct advantage there, because the information it passes on to you doesn't interfere as much with your unaided senses. Xerxes has to actually watch the video feed from the dog, for instance, and if he wants to replay it, has to vocalize, or push buttons for the command. The implant wears just think it.

I'm assuming the downwards ladder leads to a different section. I've edited my IC post so that I'm asking Orville if he wants Xerxes to continue.

It leads down to other end of the lower section.

How long would it take Xerxes to chip the body free from the wall, using his knife (superfine vibroknife)? How long would it take him to sever the right hand?
