What sort of pet bot do you want? It's a lizard, right, so I'm sure it can climb walls as well as a real lizard. Chemolean skin is pretty much a given. Andrew has points in his, so it's got some use. Xerxes just has cash, so I wouldn't expect to make much of an appearance as a plot driver.

I bought it more as a "background" item. It can climb walls, has chameleon skin, and all that, but it's mainly around to kill any insects that get where Xerxes is living, and so spends most of its time in his cabin. If I want it to become more prominent I'll put points towards buying it as an ally. My problem was that I didn't spend cash on any special options, I just paid the base $10,000 cost.

Right. So it's got a long tongue, provision to spray various chemicals (which probably could something other than bug spray...) and sensors to detect bugs. There aren't many bugs aboard ship.

True. Xerxes wasn't expected to be spending so much time on this (or any) ship. He was expecting to be living on a planet by now. So, the cost, does the $10,000 cover all that?

$10K buys a lot of robot...

Thanks. I'll consider putting some points into it later. Until then I'll just leave it in the background.

Hmmm.... Lonewulf, if it's not too late to retroactively change it, could you drop a point of ST in favor of Clinging (0.0G) [10]?

(In case you're wondering, the low-grav limitation is worth -5% per 0.1G below 1.0).

EDIT: Out of curiosity, how much ST does Dynami have, anyway?

Not much. Her ST is in her Biting ST, to symbolize very powerful machine-like jaws made specially to exert slow, increasing, controlled pressure on an object. I believe her jaws have ST 20, her body ST 9. Clinging for 0-G only would only be 2 points, right? Keep in mind that it would have an accessibility if it was thanks to electromagnetics.

No.. I think my explanation was a little off.

Clinging 20 points
Special Limitations available:
Low gravity: -5%/0.1G below 1.0G
Specific: You can only cling to a particular materials. Common -40%, Uncommon -60%, Absurd (like chocolate or silk) -80%

If it works based on magnetism, I'd call it a -60% for Specific: Ferrous Materials.

So, if you want it to work only on Ferrous Materials, and only in 0.8G or less, you could get -80%, and pay only 4 points. That might be a bit munckinny, though.

How much does Biting ST cost?

Nah, not really. Considering that it's still hugely limited. Especially if no one uses iron much anymore in their designs (but the chars are using electromagnetic boots, so...)

2 points per point, but I think I can afford to make him a lightly more powerful ally, really, without lowering bite ST; just need to work with point totals. Allies are amazingly cheap, really.

I'm honestly half-pondering giving the dog some kind of fine manipulators; maybe very tiny low-ST arms that can slide out of it's back or something.

I'm pretty sure that vacuum propulsion would be a perk.

Well, Flight is 40 pts, Space Flight Only is -25% (net value), and if you tag on another -50% for 0.0G requirement that's 10pts.

However, I assume Dynami has Basic Move 5, so his default Air Move will be 10, so you can slow that down for [-2] points per level. So, If he has Air Move 5, I suppose it probably counts as a perk.

Of course, you'd probably also have to buy the Newtonian Space Flight enhancement -- since that's the only hard SF way to do it, AFAIK -- which is +25%. (I don't understand why it's an enhancement, since it means you have to refuel, but whatever).

In that case you'd need to buy down his Air Move even more, or have it cost a net of 10pts.

So, in conclusion (assuming Basic Move 5):
Vacuum Propulsion Move 1 = [2]
Vacuum Propulsion Move 5 = [10]

EDIT: Hmm.. it seems like you can't decide on his/her gender... ;)
