The GURPS Line Editor position is best thought of as

GURPS Line Editor.

Some of the things commonly thought of as being in Sean's corner are more to the role of brand manager, which Sean notes he is not.

It could also be the lawyer/writer maxim: The lawyer/writer who represents/edits themselves has a fool for a client. So if another editor has questions on clarity, intent, or mechanics, Sean would be answering both as writer and the deciding voice on mechanics issues.

Has there been any word what the subject of Power-Ups 10 will be?

Nope. I guess we'll find out on the 26th, unless Kromm leaks it early on the 20th.

The age-old question - who edits the editors?

Correct. If it doesn't concern reviewing proposals, first drafts, or preliminary PDFs, writing my own material, or editing other writers' final drafts, I have nothing to do with it. Notably, I DO NOT sign licenses or contracts, set deadlines or manage project flow, lay out anything or assign art, initiate new printings or editions, decide what gets printed and what doesn't, or have anything to do with money, sales, or marketing. Essentially, if it isn't either English grammar or GURPS rules, I have zero authority and might not even be in the loop! The persistent myth that I'm "in charge of GURPS" is a curious one.

Also this. I write a lot of GURPS supplements. Officially, most of these just credit me as a writer and nobody as an editor. Unofficially, both Nikki Vrtis and Steven Marsh read my work, nitpick my writing, and pull the brake cord if I'm way off base; so, in reality, I have two editors, and I consider myself lucky for that. It's just that they prefer to be credited in other roles, as is their right.

Best to think of me as the lead rules developer, primary staff writer, and most senior editor of GURPS. There are other developers, writers, and editors, . . . and outside of those roles, I'm not even involved.

Kromm, if you become a werecat, please write a Fantasy Folks supplement. Thanks!

Seriously, though, take care of yourself with that cat bite. I'm ASSuming part of the treatment involved testing for rabies?

(And if you become a werecat, let's hope it's one of the cooler breeds.)

So we're going to have Hot Spots for both Istanbul and Constantinople?

(Why'd they write it? I can't say. Guess people just liked it better that way.)
