All SJ Games projects get a database entry as soon as they're approved by someone sufficiently highly placed to authorize contracts and payments ("senior staff"). The various codes in that entry are used to track job costs.
More relevant to this discussion, the database doubles as a kind of shared whiteboard where all staff – no matter where they're working from – can see what each project is (PDF, softback or hardback book, card or dice game, etc.), how far along it is (like first draft, playtesting, shipping, and a dozen other steps around and between these), and what has been announced (which dictates whether they can publicly share length, price, release date, or whatever). Updates there are always to either money matters, major milestones, or vital statistics like price and release date. They're never fiddly, minor things like "we changed a word" or "we talked to the author."
So, my remark means that the project in question earned major revenue, incurred a major expenditure, shifted one major milestone closer to release, or received a key executive decision regarding its cost or release date. Which is most likely, I cannot reveal. Guess.
