While reading this thread
Kromm said on this post that he would like to cultivate Cycads Therefore they must be the flower of the faith...goes to ready a garden for summer.. to help sing the praises of the Almighty Kromm... (also in general likes flowers and growing things...is a big hobbit)

I bet they are... I have always wanted to visit Australia. Not to side track but I watch to much history channel and Australia seems like the worst place to live that has creepy crawlies...is it true? Would my cable company lie to me and tell me that it has like thousands of types of fauna to kill...

The ever naive,

"It says the continent has very few poisonous snakes"... Oh, there's a foot note, "Most of them have been killed by the spiders."'

-Terry Pratchett on his version of Australia.

I wonder if that is even a perk?

O yeah! This is a scary place alright.

My theory is that the people who were suspectible to venom all died several generations ago and left only those with partial or full immunity to being poisoned, swallowed or kicked to death.

And what about those dropbears?

Yes, I do know they are a myth. ;)

How many people die from bad weather in Iceland?

I know that when my parents visited Iceland in the 70's they were warned from straying from the paths in the national park with the words "The average tourist takes 3-4 minutes to be thoroughly boiled." That's Icelandic humor... (in the same vein as "I don't know if he's home, but his spear is."*)

* Just imagine what today's Internet would have done with that. There are people who seriously would add a ROTFL after such a comment.

Thanks to the All-Encompassing Wisdom Of KROMM, even a well-placed dropbear can be fended off by wearing a cone-shaped tinfoil hat.
