Is there a reason why Acting is absent in 4e? Was folded into Performance?

Maybe because kayfabe is only maintained during shows and not outside of shows now.

To expand on this, at least in 4e, Acting is the skill of convincing people of things that aren't true while Performance is the skill of giving an entertaining, well, performance - be this acting in a movie/play, doing stage combat (although Combat Sport and Combat Art help there), or whatever. There can be some overlap in that both may need to "stay in character" when interacting with others in an unscripted manner (at least for improv), and there's confusion in that one would think Acting would be the skill of actors rather than confidence men. Also, at least cinematically, it's expected that skilled actors (that is, those with high relevant Performance skill) will be able to do Acting with minimal difficulty.

So, back when Professional Wrestling involved keeping the fact it was all staged a secret (the "kayfabe" TGLS makes note of), professional wrestlers often needed Acting and Performance. Now that it's an open secret, they don't really need Acting, only Performance, although for a campaign set back when kayfabe was in full effect you may still want Acting for your characters.
