Anoras will follow Cassandra's suggestion on rations.

Anoras (speaking): "Cassandra, I would rather help people than hurt people. But you're right. This was more than an attack, it was a deadly attack using the forces of Evil. To stop the evil against our own people, we have to destroy those who would do this so they can't do it again to us or to others. It was their decision, not ours."

Anoras (speaking): "Fenian, I understand your concern about your sister, especially as Rhiannon will be busy helping others. But we really could use you, or someone else. The fate of our village may well rest in our hands. If not you, hopefully there will be another."

How many rations is each person buying? $30 and 14 lbs for a weeks worth (Basic page 265).


GM aside about setting: Sorcerers gain power by sacrificing others, especially those who they once had relationships with, and the only local people who tolerate them are the Venasir. This doesn't really impact what you said, its just worth underlining the setting here.

Anoras can find rations for herself and the others to survive in the wild--but that would take time and would slow us up. So she'll buy a week's worth.

Player response: Thanks! That gives me a better feel for things, and could help us in the future. One question: by "relationships with" do you mean friendship and/or intimacy/romance?

Anoras (thinking): It's been a while, I and the others have been working hard, and I get tired easily. And we could really use Fenian. But this must be a group decision. I will insist on that.

Anoras (speaking): I understand your concern about your sister. I am concerned too. But with Rhiannon and you helping, I feel quite hopeful.

We could really use you, though. It is getting later in the day, so leaving first thing in the morning after we've fully rested is all right by me. But this needs to be a group decision. You and I favor waiting until sunrise. Now let's see what Cassandra and Thad think.

In the meantime, I will do some preliminary tracking to see which direction our enemies traveled with our people and to try to get at least a close idea of how many there are. I doubt the sorcerers will have both the ability and the energy to cover the tracks of so many. (I'll roll Tracking.)

Cassandra considers on the topic of rations "Wellllll . . . So we think it will be a five day trip . . . And we think we want to come back afterwards . . . Sooo . . " her eyes cross in concentration and she looks at her fingers, "Two weeks worth!"

OOC: I'm making the assumption this post in the out of character Warriors of Haunden thread was intended for here, so will respond here. If that's a problem, please let me know!

Anoras (speaking): "I am skilled in finding food in the wild while getting where we're going, but that would take up travel time and slow us down. But maybe none of us need to buy any rations. We're not only avenging the dead who no longer need what rations they had, we're traveling to save the living. I would think people would be more than willing to help us out with getting rations. I would suggest both of you check while I finish analyzing the tracking of our enemies and our people that I have done."

Anoras (speaking): "What do you think, Thad? We just got back after a long trip, then have been dealing with things here. We could use some rest, and we could use Fenian."

Go ahead and make influence or reaction* rolls on dicelog to get donated food. Its a great idea. Or you can be happy with what you've bought so far.


*be sure to specifiy which! low is good for influence (public speaking, fast talk, diplomacy) and high is good for reaction rolls (mostly just a roll, but appearance, charisma, and similar advantages help).


Anoras tracks the Sorcerers a short distance: They're bringing the skeletons with them, as well as the prisoners and their guards. Everyone seems to be in one group, or at least mostly. Sometimes one group will wander 30 or so yards from the other. They're not heading for any of ritual sites: they're headed towards the local Venasir Castle. They seem to be attracting an unusually high number of birds to their location. Crows, Anoras thinks from the size and shape of the tracks.

Anoras will inform Cassandra, Fenian, Thad, and Rhiannon of what she learned.

She'll also use both Hidden Lore (Sorcery) and Naturalist (World of Haunden) to see if she can figure out the significance of the birds, especially crows--could be a natural or supernatural reason, or both.

How far in travel time does Anoras think the local Venasir Castle is?

Also about what time of day is it now, i.e. how long until sundown?
