Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Anoras goes into the forest to look for the herbs, and its not too long before she finds them. She returns, lights them on fire, and places them under the skull, which goes still. Then she fashions a charm out of the skull, weighing half a pound, and giving a +5 to resist spells by the sorcerer who made the monster to its wearer. Who will wear it?

Cassandra finds Branwen under a crooked tree. Her eyes are wild, and she does not recognize Cassandra or even her own mother. Her brother is there as well. Rhiannon points to a line in the leaves around the tree, about 10 feet away from it, and tells Cassandra not to cross it. It seems Branwen won't cross the line either. She will happily growl and spit at Cassandra though.

Rhiannon shows up as the charm is finished. She immediately starts the surgery on Janden.

Much of the rest of the village is anxious for a rescue party to be sent out to reclaim their lost ones.
Rhiannon: "You will be able to catch them. But you will need care to beat them, or you will end up like Janden here."

Cassandra takes off her backpack and readies her bow as she waits and guards

She stays back out of spitting range

Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Anoras (thinking): I wonder if any other skeletons out of which I can make a charm have been found (Anoras will ask those around her.)

But now that I have made a charm out of the skull, who do I let wear it? On the one hand, I know more than anyone other than Rhiannon on how to deal with the magical threat, and Rhiannon is not likely traveling with us to rescue the others. So I should be protected for the sake of the others. On the other hand, people already think I'm stubborn; I don't want them thinking I'm also selfish. How do I decide? Ah, I know. By the stars, I will not decide. When Rhiannon gets here, she will make the decision. She will--oh, there she is!

Anoras (listening): Anoras listens to Rhiannon.

Anoras (speaking): "Rhiannon, I am so glad you are all right, and feel so sad about the others. But I know you will take responsibility for those who are here while I and others go to rescue those who have been taken.

"Using the methods you taught me, I have used herbs and fashioned this charm out of a formerly attacking skeleton. I have fashioned it to resist spells by the sorcerer who made the monster to its wearer. As its maker, I have determined that you shall decide which one of us rescuers wears it. So who should wear it?"

No other skeletons have been found: the people in the village say the skeleton monsters were quite tough, and got up after blows that should have killed them.

Rhiannon: "The charm should go on the warrior most dedicated to chopping off the sorcerer's head in close battle. I believe this is Thad."

Cassandra waits, Fenian close by.

Do you have any other investigation to do before setting out to follow the sorcerers? (presumably Rhiannon will send Cassandra back)

Cassandra will happilly chatter away with Branwen and Fenian in the meantime (whether or not Branwen is very conversational)

She probably does want to buy some rations before the trip starts also if we know how long it will be

Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Anoras rather hoped she would get the charm. But as she stubbornly decided whatever Rhiannon said would be what would happen, she will follow through on that--including checking with Thad.

Anoras (speaking): "Rhiannon, I will do as you advise, and will make certain Thad intends to be the one to chop off the sorceror's head. If so, then he will wear the charm. Thank you for all you've taught me for both my personal good and for the good of the others."

She will estimate how long the trip there and back again will likely take, and get appropriate rations. She has the skills to find her own rations in the wild, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared. (GM: How long is it? The round trip?)

Anoras will go to Thad.

Anoras (speaking): "Thad. As I was taught by Rhiannon, I have made this charm to resist spells by the sorcerer who made the skeletal monster you fought. Do you intend to be the one to chop off the sorceror's head in close battle? If so, then Rhiannon and I decided you can wear this charm. Understand that it gives significant resistance to the spells of that particular sorceror, but that it is not absolute protection."

OOC: (from GM: Do you have any other investigation to do before setting out to follow the sorcerers?)

--I will roll on Hidden Lore (Sorcery) to see if there's anything else Anoras thinks she should check out before we leave.

EDIT: Made roll by 2.

You don't know how long it will be...

Thinks to check...
Do the scorceror's have lucky amulets? They do: the amulets grant the scorceror's one stroke of good luck before breaking and falling off. Usually this is defensive. It takes them about an hour of work to make a new amulet.
Did anyone get to attack them and see what defenses they have? not really.

Additionally, Anoras makes a mental check of the "sacrifice sites" in the region. Scorcerors gain great power through human sacrifice, but only at the right locations and at the right times, usually at night. There are five sites nearby that will be right in the next five days.

Anoras will tell Rhiannon anything she thinks Rhiannon wouldn't already know. And she will tell Cassandra, Fenian, and Thad what she knows when she sees each of them.

She will also check on her father Mileno (she had already learned he was OK, but wants to at least briefly see him before she leaves.)

Anoras (speaking): "Father, by the stars I promise I will do my best to bring back the others, including my cousins and Uncle Leo."

"I would pit my steel against any foul sorcerer that threatens my home. Blood cries out to us, and it must be answered in blood. I'll take your talisman, and may it protect me until we slay the last of these fiends."

"I am ready. Just point me to the lair, and I'll execute my duty."

Anoras: "Good. Here is the charm." (She will give it to Thad.)

"Even though I can find food on the way, it would be good for us to gather some rations for the trip. I'm going to do that right now. Then as soon as Cassandra and Fenian, and anyone else capable who wants to accompany us, are ready, we can go."
