Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

So the threat is supposed to be wings stunning all the best warriors, not some random skeleton with a sword cutting through a warrior and threatening cassandra with 9 cutting a turn!

These dice certainly have their opinions!

The battleline deserves an update with all the people (glaives) who have stepped back

Spear Skeleton (-8HP) vs r-spear-1 (-4HP)
Spear (-2HP) vs r-spear-2
club skeleton (-1HP, no weapon) vs r-glaive (-5HP)
Sword vs r-sword (-6 HP)
sword skeleton vs Cassandra (-4 HP)
Wings (-6HP) vs a-Glaive-1
spear Skeleton (-10HP) vs Horseman
allied sword defeated foe

stepped back:
allied glaive 2 (-12HP)
enemey glaive (-15HP)

Oh, and I miscounted glaives, so allied glaive one hit wings (block was 15), but his armor absorbed all three damage

You mean I'm not the only one here who isn't perfect? Seriously, thanks for the explanation.

Anoras does have leather armor on her sheet, and I don't recall her ever removing that. I figured a healer wearing armor in a combat situation wouldn't look out of place. (Especially as she really is a healer who planned to enter a combat situation.)

Understood.

Well, fortunately Cassandra had 14 HT, so she is willing to spend another FP on feverish as she does not like mighty blows on her. And she will try again to slash back

Huh, I thought that was hidden with the weapons. We can use that, I suppose. That keeps the weight unencumbered with 5 lbs of buffer, unless I'm missing something.

Turn 32
Anoras runs to 22 yards behind the battle line
Cassandra defends (dodges? you didn't specify)
Cassandra attacks her enemy (rolled an 8) but it blocks (rolled an 8)

Allied archer shoots at enemy archers with fireballs...
critical success, and arrow does maximum damage!...
7 damage total, 4 damage through armor, 8 injury.
The enemy archer stays on his feet, but is slowed

Fireball and two enemy archers archers move to 88 yards away.
Injured enemy archer moves to 90 yards away

Injured skeletons move to 98 yards away.
Flanking archers move towards battle line (84 yards and 88 yards)

On the line, the battle rages!
Wings attempts to stun horseman...and Succeeds!
Enemy Spear and Sword attack Reinforcing spear and sword ... and all attacks and blocks succeed
Horseman recovers from stun before his foe can attack him, but isn't able to be attacked.
r-spear-1 takes all out defense
Five allied warriors attack... all hit! (r-spear-2, r-glaive, r-sword, a-glaive-1, a-sword)... but only club skeleton fails to defend. 5 damage is rolled, 2 penetrates, and unliving keeps that damage at 2.
Wings shouts an order to a spear skeleton and it doesn't attack. The Club skeleton all out defends
The 1st spear skeleton and sword skeleton attack... both succeed, but r-spear-1 blocks the attack.
Sword's potential damage to Cassandra is ... 8. the monster isn't slowing down very much.

  • One sword skeleton is 9 HP down (slow)
  • first spear skeleton is down 8 HP (slow)
  • second spear skeleton is down 10 HP (slow)
  • Club skeleton is down 3 HP (dropped weapon, all out defense)
  • Thad's skeleton is down 15 HP (slow)
  • Allied glaive in battle line is down 12 HP (slow, below 0, all out defense)
  • Enemy glaive is down 15 HP (slow, below 0, all out defense)
  • Enemy spear is down 2 HP
  • Wings is down 6 HP
  • Fireballs is down 7 HP
  • Enemy Archer is down 8 HP (slowed, -4 shock)
  • Allied reinforcing Glaive is down 5 HP
  • Allied reinforcing sword is down 6 HP
  • Allied reinforcing spear is down 4 HP (all out defense)
  • Cassandra is down 4 HP
so mostly this round an enemy archer got hit, horseman got stunned, a skeleton got knicked, and two skeletons are behaving strangely.

She will be dressed Venasir-appropriate--and with a piece of Haunden fabric as a gag around the back of her head and over her mouth. And her "hands will be tied." (She has Escape and Flexibility and the fishing line.)

She will wait a bit, then come out from behind the Venasir group. She will make noise--kick a tree, do a muffled and angry-sounding scream, etc.

Sorry, that was my goof in using "etc." instead of specifying things. And I made my post above back in 04-12-2024, so wasn't thinking now about the circumstances back then.

So maybe the GM can use one of these (entirely up to the GM):

1) I think my original thought was that Anoras would wear leather armor under an outer robe/gown or something similar. (Honestly, as it's been over 5 months since I made that post, I don't remember.) Concealing armor was done in the medieval period and I think earlier.

2)) If Anoras didn't do the above, perhaps she had a chance to get a replacement when we captured the renegade Venasir.

3) If neither of the above, then Anoras isn't wearing any armor.

Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Cassandra will try a straight block, vs 13

And then try and whack back

ericthered 10-02-2024 09:17 AM

Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Turn 33:

Anoras runs to 16 yards behind the battle line
Cassandra blocks the skeleton
Cassandra attacks her enemy... and it fails to block!
Cassandra deals 11 damage (wait, 3d6 cut, seriously?), with 8 penetrating and dealing 12 injury. This puts her foe to 0 HP. Its still standing, though it has taken a massive blow.

Allied archer drops his bow and draws a sword
Fireball and two enemy archers archers move to 84 yards away.
Injured enemy archer moves to 88 yards away
Injured skeletons move to 96 yards away.
Flanking archers move towards battle line (80 yards and 84 yards)

Battle Line updates coming....

Wings attempts to stun horseman again... fails (he really has no luck here, he just needs to not loose by two on natural rolls)
Enemy spear and sword attack, but sword misses and spear is blocked
Spear skeleton hits horseman! horseman takes 2 damage past armor, for 4 injury.
Allied Warriors launch a full attack! r-sword misses, and the enemy has a very even and successful defense (all blocks, all rolls between 9 and 11)
Wings barks an order, and the Club skeleton draws a knife.
Spear skeleton knicks r-spear-1 again, for 2 damage.
Sword skeleton has a potential hit on Cassandra for 7 cut before armor... her mighty blow doesn't seem to have slowed it down all that much.

  • One sword skeleton is 9 HP down (slow)
  • Cassandra's sword skeleton is 12 HP down (slow)
  • Allied reinforcing spear is down 6 HP (-2 shock)
  • Horseman is down 4 HP
  • Cassandra is down 4 HP
We can stick with leather armor.

So this round an allied spearman and the allied horseman got knicked for a small amount of damage each, and Cassandra took a skeleton to 0 HP, but it seems to still be fighting.

Her hope is the rebels will not only recognize her as that "weird Venasir healer who helped us", they'll be distracted from looking at the people who are attacking them.

Anoras still plans to do that when appropriate. (And the GM's decision is that Anoras would have leather armor, is that right?)

Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Cassandra tries to parry, which is still 13

She then tries to smack it again

Re: Warriors of Haunden (IC)

Turn 34:

Anoras runs to 12 yards behind the battle line (will run shouting next turn)

Allied archer moves into the melee against wings
Fireball and two enemy archers archers move to 80 yards away.
Injured enemy archer moves to 86 yards away
Injured skeletons move to 94 yards away.
Flanking archers move towards battle line (76 yards and 80 yards)

Cassandra blocks the skeleton, then gets a critical hit against it (automatic major wound with any damage), deals 8 damage, 5 gets through DR, for 7 injury... a major wound anyways. The skeleton stays in one piece, and in fact seems to keep on fighting away. (remember these skeletons are pretty resilent -- you've had their heads try to bite you). If only the 14 for the crit table roll had been for damage.

Wings stuns the horseman
Enemy spear and sword attack... enemy sword (Busan) hits r-sword, and hits hard, doing maximum 8 damage, for 5 after armor and 7 total. This is a major wound, but r-sword stays up, even if he's under 0 HP.
Spear skeleton hit the stunned horseman! horseman takes 4 damage past armor, for 8 injury. He drops his sword and falls on his horse... but stays in the saddle. He is at 0 HP.
Allied Warriors attack! both glaives roll 16's and miss (ironic, because they have skill 15), and their targets all defend.

The Horseman passes out on his horse as he directs it backwards. Hopefully the beast will take care of him.

R-sword steps back from the fight and then passes out as well and falls to the ground.

Spear Skeleton and club skeleton (now knife skeleton) both miss their targets.
Sword skeleton has a potential hit on Cassandra for 6 cut before armor --- at least the dice are slowing down.
  • One sword skeleton is 9 HP down (slow)
  • Cassandra's sword skeleton is 19 HP down (slow)
  • first spear skeleton is down 8 HP (slow)
  • second spear skeleton is down 10 HP (slow)
  • Club skeleton is down 3 HP (knife skeleton now)
  • Thad's skeleton is down 15 HP (slow)
  • Allied glaive in battle line is down 12 HP (slow, below 0)
  • Enemy glaive is down 15 HP (slow, below 0, all out defense)
  • Enemy spear is down 2 HP
  • Wings is down 6 HP
  • Fireballs is down 7 HP
  • Enemy Archer is down 8 HP (slowed, -4 shock)
  • Allied reinforcing Glaive is down 5 HP
  • Allied reinforcing sword is down 13 HP (-4 shock, slow, below 0)
  • Allied reinforcing spear is down 6 HP
  • Horseman is down 12 HP (stunned, -4 shock, 0 HP, unconsious)
  • Cassandra is down 4 HP
I think we need another battle line rundown:

Spear Skeleton (-8HP) vs r-spear-1 (-6HP)
Spear (-2HP) vs r-spear-2
club skeleton (-3HP, no weapon) vs r-glaive (-5HP)
Sword (Busan) vs Allied Archer (just joined)
sword skeleton (-19HP) vs Cassandra (-4 HP)
Wings (-6HP) vs a-Glaive-1
spear Skeleton (-10 HP) vs allied sword

This round was brutal for Holidor: Cassandra got their only hit on a Skeleton (which didn't go down) and they lost Two swordsmen completely unconscious (swords matter because they're good against skeletons). They went from one man up to one man down. Fortunately, the allied archer is joining the fight, making things even.
