Classic Car Wars: Manouver/Control/Crash Table timing?

Hey folks, I feel silly for asking such a basic question for a game I have played forever, but now I am old and rusty.

What is the timing between making a maneuver and then settling results on a crash table?

My guess:
  • Maneuver is selected but no counter is moved.
  • Control roll fails from maneuver
  • Crash table results are consulted and counter is then moved accordingly

Does the counter move from the maneuver before the resulting control roll?

the maneuver is done, then any crash table motions are done from there...

so at the very least, succeed or fail, for a moment your vehicle is precisely where you want it to be!

To clarify a bit further:
  1. Make the maneuver.
  2. Adjust handling.
  3. Make control roll if needed.
  4. Apply crash table results as described. Crash table 1 results (Skids and worse) typically are applied during subsequent moves and Crash table 2 results (fishtails) more immediately.

Keep in mind that there is some questionable editing in various places regarding when various results are applied. Crash table 1 results should take place on the earliest subsequent moves to when you lost control.
