Cost for Elven version of Orcish Energy Brew?
I hope this is the right forum for this.
One of my players is an elven herbalist, who's been eying the Orcish Energy Brew - but of course: hates anything orcish! He's asked for an elven version which does the same thing (regain 1d3 FP) but without the negative drawbacks. I don't have a problem with a "Sylvan Draught" that works the same way...but how would you price it considering there's no drawback anymore? +50%? +75%? I'm thinkin' somewhere in the $70 - $90 range? thom |

Well, it's basically a half-dose of paut, only it works for non-magical energy loss, so probably in the $75 range.

I would charge at least $100. You are removing the drawback of the potion which makes it very useful even though it does not help with FP spent for spells. Plus, its an ELVISH brew, it has WAAAAY more nutrient than that nasty Orc stuff, and it smells and taste better.

Thanks for the answers, guys. While I would agree with the whole "nutrition" thing for an elven mix, I suspect my PCs would not! ;) I was leaning towards the $75-$85 range initially so I'll go with that...

Crimson Taurus
This elven draught restores 1d3 FP to anyone who drinks it. $100 Rumor has it off an even more powerful draught that grants you wings, but elven sages are silent on this. |

Alternatively, reskin it so that it's got elvish flavored drawbacks and thus retain the same cost.
So, instead of a HT roll to avoid nausea it'd be a health roll to avoid Euphoria. They're in the same class of irritating conditions so I'd consider them swappable. And maybe the advantage that negates that is something different too? Cast-iron stomach is tricky because it's a modifier on Reduced Consumption and can be as little as 1 point e.g. quirk level so I don't know very well what would replace it. It's not entirely out of place on an elven draught, but not very flavorful either. |
