Re: (IC) Lost in Dreams (Julian)

Julian walks towards the rain, before coming up over a rocky hill and seeing the ground the rain is falling on: its lush garden area very near to the town. Standing in it is a massive circle of people, using magic to call down rain on their crops. He's about 200 yards away from the edge of the rain.

Watering the crops at night? Hm... I wonder what the odds are that everyone in town is busy with the circle and isn't guarding their stuff? I'll bypass the circle and head towards the town.

Rolling stealth... skill 13, rolls a 12.
Rolling Urban Survival... skill 12, rolls a 10.

Julian slips past the circle, and to the core of the town. Houses are made of mud, but they seem to make more use of wood than the last place he has in. The doors are latched. He can hear people moving about here and there... mostly babies or children, though a few adults seem to be around as well. There are no clothes hanging... But he is able to find a door that hasn't been secure in a house that doesn't have anyone in it.

The home has a fireplace, a large clay pot for water, bedding, a cooking area (mortar and pestal, clay bowls and wooden spoons, a fireplace), and a chest. Looking inside the chest is clothing (long shirts and loose pants, along with skirts). The style is mostly bright color with a secondary color embroidered in patterns all along the trim.

I decide that going around naked and/or being caught is probably worse than wearing the wrong colours, so I throw on a shirt and pair of trousers, then get out of there.

Julian is now clothed. The sun is coming up. The rain is only falling on one part of the ground, not the whole gardened area. The town is quite small given what he's used to.

What is he doing now? What does he do with the rug?

What's being grown the garden area? Wheat? Fruit?

I roll up the rug and throw it over my shoulder. Maybe I could trade it for something.

If the town is this small, they'll probably figure out or simply decide that the drifter's responsible for the missing clothes, so sticking around might not be the best idea.

So, find something to eat and somewhere else to go.

Palms with some sort of fruit, some kind of bean plant, A gourd or squash, what might be grapes (not ripe), some sort of grain, some plants with fruiting bodies (no sweet, but like a tomato, pepper, or eggplant) he doesn't recognize, and some plants grown for either their leaves or their roots.

Where does he intend to go? back to the abandoned village? looking for the caravan? just out into the desert?

Well, I guess I'll wait around until there's less focus on the garden and try to swipe a palm fruit then.

No idea. Leaving off in a random direction probably isn't the best idea. I don't see why I should head back to the abandoned village either. I don't imagine I could find the caravan either.

Maybe I should just keep my head down for a day or two, quietly leave, and then arrive again less sneakily.

There is plenty of empty garden: it surrounds the town and they're only focused on one side right now.

The trees don't have low hanging branches: they are palms. Does he have a plan to get the fruit down? He has climbing 12 and TK 5.

Ok, what does "Keeping my head down" entail? hiding in a barn*? finding an ally? a shady spot in the garden? someone's shed? Keep moving but hidden? back behind that first rise?

*yes, they have them.

For some reason, my mind read palm tree and saw an apple tree.

I'll try tugging the fruit off with TK first. If that doesn't work I'll try climbing up the tree.

Hm... I imagine the animals in the barn need attention daily. If I need to go looking for an alley, it's probably trafficked enough to not be a place to hide in. Shed would seem to have the same issue as the barn. I dunno, if they aren't harvesting (which given they were watering the crops by controlling the rain), it's probably OK to hide in the garden.
