Out of this container, not Curry Station I assume. "Why do you think the path to the tank was such a twisty ride out?"
Well if we're back on Curry Station, this is probably as safe as anywhere. "Yeah, we should be fine now."

I find an awkward silence (well, at least an audio silence) settling in as we wait in the container. "Well, at least being shot at really persuaded the Starpus."

"We had to loose them. And we were worried about the obvious routes being shut down."


"Yeah, we're on Curry Station."


Pleasant Caller: "Someone explain to me why they were trying to stab us again."
Big Digger: "They weren't trying to stab us, they were trying to stab Sunbeam."
Pleasant Caller: "They weren't doing a very good job!"
Gentle Arms: "They seemed to care more about stopping sunbeam than protecting us. Though after we shouted the stabbing stopped."


Hungry Singer: "I'm hungry, you got anything to eat?


As they feed the starpus, gentle arms says: "Hey, do we want to see if you can move something?"


Slam: "Did it? That's good."


Slam: "You haven't heard any other voices have you? the other astropics?"

"We were going pretty fast; they might have only stopped because we got to far to be stabbed at."

"Sure, why not? Could you start by explaining it?"

I follow Gentle Arms instructions. If I can choose what to move, I'll choose something that could be overlooked, like my pen.

"Apart from a screamer while I was waiting at the hospital, no. The Starpus say I'm louder than the other Astropics, and well, I guess we haven't really tried talking to the Starpus at a distance. Maybe it's just too short range to be heard."

Big Digger: "No starpus learns this by having it explained. I will show you."


Julian can feel big digger reaching out with... something, and lifting up his arm. He can feel the force, and he can taste the feeling, much like the feeling of Riask, or of the jostling of the tank.


Julian tries to imitate the flow that he can taste/feel, and then pen moves over to the side.



Pleasant Caller: "I don't believe it!"
Hungry Singer: "Do it again!"
Gentle Arms: "Sunbeam might not be a speaker after all..."
A few other starpus voices* shout their amazement.


* I need to flesh out all nine, probably.



"We can certainly try that once we've got a bit more leg room. I can see why the starpus want bigger tanks. I want to stretch my legs already."


Hungry Singer: "you have a feeder with you, right?"

Before I try, "Does it always taste like that?"

Yeah, cause I'm a chunk of rock, I brush the thought off. I try a second time. "I take it speakers can't do this."

Well, I think fleshing them out completely might be a bit much; sticking with the current four doing most of the reacting and shuffling in one of the other five occasionally should probably get the same effect.

"Well, it's better than eight hours crawling in a narrow tunnel."

"Like someone to help feed you? Yeah, I have someone to help. Or is it like a thing to feed you?"

Gentle Arms: "Taste? you must mean feel."

Julian pushes the pencil back to its old spot with his mind.

Hungry Singer: "Wow. You can do it!"
Gentle Arms: "No, speakers can only hear and speak with us."
Big Digger: "How heavy an object can you lift?"

OCC: yeah, a chunk of rock. LOL.

Fair enough, hopefully you've picked up on their personalities at this point. I at least need names.

Slam: "You've done that? I thought you said you were civilian? Or did you get stuck?"

Hungry Singer: "One of the humans who feeds us!"

"Well this feeling feels like a taste. Maybe it's because I'm not a Starpus."

"It's a pen, it's..." I don't want a word that hurts. Gram probably would. Maybe even pen. "Lighter than a fish."

I decide to be a bit more obvious moving my pen. Can I make it float or just move slightly?

"Working in a mine. Push the empty basket down to the end, push the full basket back out. Not the best work but it kept me fed. And there was some to save."

"Well the person helping is not the same one as the one who fed you before, if that's what you're asking."

I write up an entry in my diary, and I realize something...
"Where'd you get that idea? Earlier they were upset about the turning speed and such..."

Hungry Singer: "Maybe. Maybe its just a human thing."

Gentle Arms: "Like a pebble? or a <small spacial region the size of a quarter> of sand?"
Pleasant Caller: "Who cares about the size of the tiny thing you just moved. Try something bigger!"

The pen floats in the air.

Slam: "There are some <explicitive-chain> worlds out there. And the concordance wastes their time on us. Shows they're Jealous."

Hungry Singer: "I'm just wondering the job. I like to know what kind of humans are around me."



Slam: "For moving around. Stretching the legs. I'm going stir-crazy in here, and their tanks aren't too much bigger. For moving smaller is fine, but we aren't moving right now, are we?"

Well there's only so many bigger things. I think there's:
-> The Truck (don't want to tip that)
-> The Tanks (ditto)
-> Fish
-> Slam
-> Me
-> My Notebook

I'll start with my notebook and if that's as easy as my pen I'll try myself. At least I'll probably stop immediately if I hurt myself.

"I don't think the concordance knows where Riask is..."

"Oh, he's more like a Fidget."

"Well, they do have a lot more verticality to play with."

The notebook goes up and down easily.



Julian himself seems to be too heavy. It doesn't strain him though... he's just too heavy and feels a small push from himself.


Slam makes a derisive noise, presumably aimed at the concordance.


Pleasant Caller: "A Fidget! right."


Slam: "And their smaller, but my point stands: waiting in this pod makes me stir-crazy."
