OK, well I'll attempt to explain. Blue words are in English. "Me from Rattan, in Bay Islands. It be British Overseas Territory on Earth. Ruler hard. King Charles rule. King Charles pick Governor. Governor pick Premier from Parliament."
They're not sure what he's trying to say. They do get that he has "Rulers" instead of ruler, at lest in his homeland. They pick "Rattan" when talking about it.

Then they say that "Alkorit", which seems to be this city, belongs to "Relmi Samiel", rather than "Yatreb". This seems to have been their point in bringing it up. They're quite surprized he hasn't heard of Samiel and Yatreb, or of their father "Relmi Elrandib"

Well close enough. If I get more examples of how this kingdom works I might explain things over again.

Hm, so two brothers, one's king and one isn't... I wonder, "So, are they like," then I mime out fighting. "And is Yatreb with the people who go," I mime out flying through the air, "whoosh!"

They both have flyers, of course. And three other kinds of warriors who do things. Fire and Water and Ground*. Plus the horse riders and archers and spearmen and swordmen and these people know a lot about the local weapon systems.

Yes, Relmi Samiel is "Remi" (King) and Yatreb just says he is, but he has many people who fight for him and the war is pretty intense.

*There is no way he doesn't know fire and water at this point, and they're sitting around the blacksmith shop. water is important around here and fire his is literal job. Ground he's less sure of the exact meaning.

I shake my head. I show them a picture of the flying ship I drew from my dream, and then go "whoosh!", "Is Yatreb with them, the Riask?"

I suppose they might not know about them, and I explain they attacked the village I was in (I don't think I got the name), and a city.

"So would things be very different if Yatreb was 'Remi', or would it be about the same?"

"Yatreb calls himself Remi. Kills people who call Samiel Remi. They both say Remi. But we call Remi Samiel Remi."

They peer at the drawing.

"Oh, <unknown grammar> flying house. Yes, Yatreb <more unknown grammar> flying house. Very strange."

They are impressed he saw the flying house, and Ask if it is "Ship" or "Riask", they weren't sure before.

One of the workers is also impressed. Something about steady and his eye. And a question about what he did before this, what work? If he says weeding or something like that he will press about where Julian learned to draw, and remark on his fine paper.

Hm... Sounds like a "meet the new boss" deal.

"Yeah, the air ship is Riask. Rare occurrence?"

Naturally, he does.

"Self-learned drawing. Practice makes good."

"Back home on Earth. Paper cheap there."

They sound too enthusiastic for Samiel for it to be ALL that cynical. But there is some of that effect.

They've never seen or heard of such a thing before this war. There are many strange things in the world, but this is new.

They find paper being that cheap amazing. They show you an engraved sword they have, but then say there is no time for engraving now.

The boys don't get into near as much trouble this time, simply throwing pebbles onto the ground of an alley and trying to hit each other's pebble.

That night, he dreams of the flying ship. It visits an army camped in the desert, dropping off food and water. A prominently dressed man who looks very "Rich Riask", and another man dressed richly with fancy armor talk, in the local language. Mostly about plans? Julian doesn't speak the language well enough to follow.

I'm thinking more along the lines of "Yatreb is change, but not dramatic change". Relative to Panagos, Yatreb doesn't represent a great change in policy or way of life. He just wants to be in charge. No need to weigh whether he has a point, just "War is bad", though less lop-sided than Bumundo.

I suppose that that's the big thing that Yatreb hopes will win the war...

"Everything's cheap there. Food, metal, water... Yet still people suffer."

As I toss pebbles, I reflect on how little interest I paid to marbles and balls before this. They probably have less than I've had, even back at the orphanage, yet they seem happier... How I wish I could just give them a bag of marbles.

As I wake, I decide that one must be a local if they're speaking the local language, and guess that it's the one in the fancy armour. I draw him.

I look at the picture I have drawn, and know that by the time I see him, there won't be anything I can do to stop him. They're either on their way here, and they'll sack this city, or they'll go around and sack some other city. I need to tell someone about the army, and I can't make up a lie or anything this time. But who'd believe, "I had a dream where the airship went to visit an army in the desert"?

This is too important. Not telling because I think it won't be believed is just worrying about things beyond my control. If they won't believe me even if I try to persuade them I'll have at least done all I could.

I go check in at the decorated building, and tell the guy there about my dream about the army in the desert and the air ship.

This kicks off a philosphical conversation Julian can't quite follow. The gist seems to be if poverty or people are the true cause of suffering.

I'm reminded of a quote: "We had everything that money couldn't buy"

Does he show the picture to anyone?

His contact is there. The man listens ... the two of you speak each other's language's poorly. "Where did you see the ship? Are you saying to know more? You didn't say this before?"

Yes, I'll show it to my contact at decorated building when I'm explaining my dream.

"While asleep, I dreamt it. I didn't recognize where, there wasn't distinguishing terrain, just that it was near an army now."

I show the picture of the man in armour. "This man spoke with a Riask bigwig. I didn't understand what they were saying, they were speaking Telgris."

"None of the dreams showed anything helpful. An airship, an airship attacking a city, an army marching through the desert... About the only thing worthwhile was knowing the airship was a threat."

I show the Airship picture. "I drew that before the airship visited the village."
