Supermunchkin Thief, so no downsides. Free stealing?

One of us was a Supermunchkin Thief without a secondary class, so they do not have the downsides of a Thief. To me this obviously means that they can use items Thieves cannot.

However, they insisted this means that they do not lose a level if they fail a steal, because that is also a downside.

We are playing the game in Hungarian, so I cannot quote the cards, but in case the card initially says "no downsides of BEING of that class", then this is solved. No free stealing.

I'm curious whether this is OP, or it does, indeed, only allow you to use items you normally couldn't?

The thief's level-loss is not a "disadvantage". It is a "penalty". A single-class super-thief still loses a level when he fails to steal -- assuming he is at least 2nd level.

Disadvantages that Super is referring to are things that specifically state a given class or race. For example, an item that says "Not usable by Thief" or a monster that says "Gains +X against Thief".

Being a Super does not protect against Bad Stuff or abilities from monsters unless they specify a class. If the Bad Stuff only says "Reduce your level to level 1", Super doesn't protect against it. If the Bad Stuff says "If you're a Thief, reduce your level to level 1", then Super protects against it.

Super also does not eliminate the cost to use an ability or the punishment should a player fail their roll (losing a level in this case).

Half Breed follows these same rules but for races instead of classes.

Thank you! So I was right about it, mostly.
Once again, thank you for clearing it up! :)
