Yi is pretty good at this sort of thing, but Halcyone thinks she can tell he's being honest.

When Vassarious gets up for the second watch, Yi is missing. A short search reveals his body lying in front of the House. All his gear has been taken.

Vassarious is examining the body somberly but then there is suddenly a small chuckle and momentary grin.

"I wonder... Was Yi a despot of despots under our noses and our coming here set in motion a chain of events that brought about his demise, thus fulfilling the prophecy?"

"What now? Should we check in and see if there are changes to the portents? Change tack and attempt an assassination or abduction of Bel?"
