The comms briefly fill with cursing on hearing the news.

"We gotta keep shooting them that long?"

V spots a group of 10 coming in from an odd angle.

OCC: maybe I'm scrambling after the two of you absolutely crushed my plans!

"Well there's a reason I called for reinforcements"

After V notifies me I clamor around to face this new contingent.

Well then I guess Halcyone will need to roll perception herself, V will need to take on the new group themselves, or V will need to get Halcyone's attention some other way

Vassarious will point and fire a useless volley in their direction to indicate the threat.

Halcyone notices V firing in a new direction, quite pointedly, and checks out the target... a new wave of demon-fish!

(succeeded at a gesture roll... Halcyone has a pretty good gesture skill).

The water is thick with blood and goo. If you weren't moving, the demons may have been able to use the innards of the fallen as a screen and approach. Alas, the emperor's ship is among the fastest submarines ever built, and the bodies are strewn out in a long path, leaving the current battlefield mostly clear.

If Telruthians were good at co-opting modern technology, they could have engaged you more or less favorably in a running fight. But they aren't.

They're not nearly as scary under the water as they are above: they can't bring the elemental ranged attacks of the warriors or the artillery spells of the gate-callers against you. And while they have massive sea monsters at their disposal, pitting them against torpedoes is a bad bet.

The shapeshifters stop their charges, and the hail of underwater projectiles subsides. But just out of range, you can see the shapes of demon shapeshifters following the boat.

Well I only know one way of dealing with that:

DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA

Well I'm sure glad that I can take off my armour before washing off the goo and grue, instead of having to shower it off my skin. I wonder if V will have to deal with that after shapeshifting.

I radio in and ask if there's risk of injury to any troops on the outside of the ship if we fire on the out of range shapeshifters with torpedoes.

"They're what, 140 meters out? That's the edge of safety for the port torpedoes*. We've got 49 left. main torpedoes are too dangerous though"

*6dx5 averages 100 damage, with a 6% chance of doing 140, which would deal a single point of damage to the people in the water. Main Torpedoes do 5 times that.

I suggest we re-enter the sub, fire a main torpedo at the hesitating monsters, and then go back out to see if they've re-positioned. I rather be free from these monsters than have to constantly beware of attacks at any moment.

Vassarious will shift and squeeze into the air lock, hold their breath and change shape to the "Genesis - (Wingless undercover version)" they have used before
Spoiler:

"My sea creature form can handle a torpedo at the current range if that's needed." Vassarious volunteers.

They keep their senses peeled and will return to the seas if they get closer.
