The underwater weapons are either:
  • A 5d imp riffle with acc 2 range 30/128 ROF 10 Rcl 3
  • A 2d imp pistol with acc 1 range 16/68 ROF 1

Can Vassarious get a read on the sea creature to copy it? Or to learn it's capabilities and guage the threat?

Getting within 30 meters still seems a little close for comfort, but I guess it's better than the alternative. I'll take three.

Success! The traits for the Demon are as Follows:

Vassarious shares what they are able to sense with the Captains and Halycone.

With a move of 6 and one level of enhanced move, the sub should be able to ewasily outpace the demon if I'm reading that correctly.

It's bad news to be positively located, but on it's own, this creature does not appear to pose a threat.

Or am I misinterpreting?

That's an interesting thought... one I had not considered.



The demon's listed top speed is 12 yards per second. that's 24 mph. The Unofficial Gurps Vehicle Stats document has TL6 submarines with speed 10 yards per second. The USS Nautilus (first nuclear submarine) went 23 knots... 26 mph or 13 yards per second. Pyramid 34 gives higher underwater speeds for spaceships acting as submarines/ submarines built using spaceships, but spaceships has very generous numbers. It does indicate that larger submarines are faster (I've done the research on this previously and its a general rule), and this is pointedly a large submarine.



V says they might be able to outrun the demon



Captain Akimori*: "The Emperor's Submarine is one of the fastest in the fleet. She can make [30 mph which is move 15]. Only dedicated fast craft can equal her. Can we outrun this danger?"

"I do believe we are faster. The most prudent course seems to be to simply avoid the creature.

If it is able move faster than anticipated and to close the distance, we can attempt attacking it with the shipboard weapons or Halcyone and I can confront the creature in the waters."
