Kill dragons with fire
ITL 124 "Fire as a Weapon" ... "His armor will protect him for 1 turn"
The 14 hex dragon needs to get soaked three times for a kill (unless it goes swimming), and has a 55.63% chance of dodging the soak (Dragons are DX dumpers, yo.) so the halflings need to toss around 10 molotails. |
Re: Kill dragons with fire
Pretty hard to imagine a fourteen hex critter dodging a molotail, honestly.

Re: Kill dragons with fire
You know, Henry, you got me thinking. What happens if someone holding a molotail gets hit with a fireball or (more relevantly) dragon breath? Would that be likely to cause a molotail to explode? It's not obvious to me.

I would say there is some chance of a molotail exploding from a fireball hit, but an even better chance that it lights the molotail (and/or other flammable things). |
Re: Kill dragons with fire
Luckily, female dragons are completely immune to the molotail, as it's only "his" armor that fails to protect after one turn.

Re: Kill dragons with fire
I'll just be adding an innately fireproof note to my house rules for dragons.

Re: Kill dragons with fire
Certainly a common assumption regarding dragons. I'd probably change it from fireproofing (which protects carried items as well) to immunity to fire damage if I were you.
For now, I'm going with RAW. Molotails, fireballs and other fire can harm dragons in my world. I don't think that's a serious weakness. |
Re: Kill dragons with fire
"The dragon's third eyelids slide into place, negating the penalty for standing in fire."
I.e. dragons in addition to not being harmed by fire the dragon wouldn't suffer a -2 DX for being in a fire. Smoke should still bother them though. |
Re: Kill dragons with fire
I've no idea what you're quoting. Would be helpful if you were a bit more verbose here (and elsewhere). I'm not great at reading minds.
