Curses order of play

Specifically in Harry Potter Munchkin. If someone draws a monster that has a "when it enters combat statement" can you play a curse such as "lose your turn" to avoid suffering the bad stuff of that monster.

For example

When it enters combat, lose an ally. Can I play a curse that ends my turn to avoid suffering the when it enters combat effect to avoid losing an ally.

Also,

When it enters combat, roll a die, lose half that number of items rounded up.
Rolled a die that requires the loss of two items. Then the curse lose a hand item was played before I chose my items. Do I lose the hand item immediately or do I lose the two items from when the card entered combat allowing me to chose a two hand items as the items lost effectively ruining the use of that specific curse card.

No. You'd resolve the effect on the monster and then end your turn.

You deal with the cards in the order they hit you -- in this case, monster first and then the Curse.
