Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
Looking forward to #4!
I'll be getting an author copy, but I'm pledging as well, to get a copy for reading and for the opportunity for add-ons. (More metal dice?) |

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
Count me in for the usual five, on top of my writer's copy. Love to give them to family and friends. ^_^

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
I'm sorry for not supporting earlier incarnations. I think I'll try this one out to see what it is like.
Are all the contributions by Mr. Reed in these 'zines? |

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
We will launch the project around 10 am Austin time. For those who missed the new playmats that were offered in the Hexagram #3 campaign, we will have a limited reward level that includes Hexagram #4 and those two newer playmats.

Backed at $66 level, then saw those sweet pins.

I wish I had the confidence to propose something for a future Hexagram

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
I spent two hours on my entry, one hour of which was doing the map in Shadekeep's tool. It helped that my concept only required me to map out part of one of the temples. (Well I had been thinking about the general concept for a while before then.)

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
I've got drafts about a dozen hexagram submissions I would love to submit, but also have the time to really finish off none of them.

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
Terquem.
Learn what freewriting is and do it and do it often.people get stuck with writing because in our heads from high school and even earlier were taught to get the first draft right the first time. This is a big mistake. Take 15 minutes and just blurted out your ideas as if you were talking. You can always go back and get it later. It's not going to be perfect it's not supposed to be. Anybody can free write a whole page within about 15 to 20 minutes. You don't hit the backspace button, you don't editing go back, you keep moving forward and it later get all your ideas out there even if you cut yourself off and go on a tangent it doesn't matter you just keep writing and moving forward. |

I want to thank everyone for the encouragement and suggestions.

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
I was never taught to get a writing proof right the first time. I went to school in the 1980s.

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
I don't think "right the first time" is taught anywhere, or at least not anywhere responsible, but rather that it's a bad habit a lot of us pick up. I'm doing it right now as I write this reply, rehearsing different sentences for the sound of them before typing anything down. Somewhere along the way many of us seem to fall into this habit, particularly when writing letters or posts, and then it bleeds over into those forms of writing we do less frequently, like articles and fiction. I wasn't even aware I was doing this until the time came to unlearn it.
My schooling on writing began in the 1970s, and the focus was really on grammar, syntax, and spelling. So I suspect the emphasis on rules also helped codify this "make sure it's written right" ethos, especially on children who were less likely to revise their work. Later in high school and even moreso in college would come the emphasis on good editing and revision. But by then the elementary habits had hold. |
Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
Please put a pin in the writing advice discussion for now. It's a derail from talking about the subject of this thread: Hexagram #4 and the currently running Kickstarter.

Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
Ah, sorry Andrew, good point. We should've started a separate thread.
Back on topic, should those of us who are backing for multiple copies indicate this in any way? Since there are add-ons available it may not always be clear who is pledging for multiple copies of #4 versus those who are getting other goodies. I ask in case this helps plan the print run size. EDIT: On further thought, there's probably a big enough buffer in the print run to cover the likely spread, making a more precise tally unnecessary. |
Re: Hexagram #4 Coming to Kickstarter
Nice, the KS just passed the 1,000% funded threshold. Still some days to go and grow.
